I've got a building with just a triggered roar spell. The thing is, I only want the palyer to be able to cast the spell at certain times. If he attempts to cast the spell at any other time the unit should be stopped. The thing is, since the building only has 1 ability and nothing else, the stop action doesn't appear in the command card. So I can't actually stop the unit from casting. Does anyone know how to get the stop action to appear? I mean obviously I could give the unit an attack with no valid targets or let it build some silly crap, but that's just messy... |

You could make the unit to train a unit, then fire your trigger using the "A unit finishes training a unit" event, instead of the roar spell, that will add the stop order to the building, or base your spell in Tranquility, since it is a chaneling spell, it would add stop to the building. |

Yes channeling spells do do that, but tranquility is mabye not the best one to do it. I really sugest giving the building a spell that replaces the roar spell. this spell should be channeling and a general area with no target spell (For this method.... traquility is probbally a decent spell) now this should have all the tooltips and hotkeys of roar etc. so efectivley, it looks just like your roar exept it IS tranquility (With no effect etc (Dummy)). The when the player (or comp) casts this spell, trigger it to give unit ROAR and trigger casting! then remove it again! You could proobbally just do this without tranquility by just removing and adding the spell (Giving the tower a dummy spell when the real spell is not there).... On second thought.. thats proobbally a very good idea.... hmmmm Try it out! -Garith |

Now I get a little confused, does not the roar only a dummy spell to fire a trigger event? If it is that, just use tranquility as the base, instead of roar. |

Yes thats what i mean in my first sugestion, but now that i look at it, the latter would probbally work far more smoothly... |

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Tranquility suits my purposes. It even helps me do SFX for the ability. If you're curious, I needed this for a Scorched Earth ability that I'm giving to all my buildings. A player can choose to salt the fields and burn the ground surrounding a building, making the area blighted and unbuildable. This gives a player the option of voluntarily making himself a much less juicy target. Of course, he shoots himself in the foot at the same time. You just gotta make tough decisions sometimes, right? |
