When exporting make sure you got the yobguls mdx to mdl converter. Export your models to mdl files first, then open them up and fix the texture paths inside. Then convert it back to mdx. |

whooa - that means even with blizzard wc art tools -- I need to export in mdl fix the pathing and convert back to mdx? I thought that I only needed to do that with dex's export script. please confirm this - cheers Quote:

You don't technically have to. The paths will just be by default whatever the texture name was; no path. If you upload your MDXs and BLPs people will be able to give you more specific instructions. |

i have a feeling that it has something to do with alpha channels -- for the manual blp creation which I am creating --- is there a photoshop tutorial on how I would go about making alpha channel for my tga --- to convert to blp? cheers |

You dont have to make an alpha channel for your tga. If you use the war3viewer tool it will automatically generate an alpha channel for your skin when you convert it to blp. |

cool where can I get that? could you please provide me the link? thx Question 2 --- I loaded a mdx and edited the pathing for my textures in mdl as wc3imported/white.blp is that the correct pathing when I have all my custom stuff in a folder called wc3imported (saves me the step of renaming the paths in the editor) I did this and my model finally appeared with the textures in editor however when I loaded it up in wc3 -- it is invisible! I must be doing something wrong here please help me out cheers |

What you need to do is check what the path is of your skin file in mdl format. Open it up and check it out under the textures line. If its white.blp, then when you import your model and texture in the we go ahead and choose custom path under import manager and delete the war3imported/ for your skin file. No need to change anything for your model file. As for the warcraft3veiewer tool it is found on this site. Just go to files/tools/ it should be there. or go to files then scroll down till you find top downloaded tools on the right side. The viewer should appear there too. |
