Guest | Hmm.. a new mapmaker.. anywayz~~ To get a Hero Unit. YOu must Use A Hero eg.'Blood Mage' as base and change all the stats and model and icon and stuff so tat its like a normal unit but with the hero leveling stuff. Hope you can understand this.. if not. i'll try to say somemore . Go Object Editr -> select 'Hero unit' when making new custom unit ( using right click ) and change all the stuff of the hero.. eg. Range and the others. hope you understand this and dun forget to giv reps if i helped you out lolx. |

Yeah--there's a property to change buildings into units and units into buildings. But if you want to make a hero, it has to be based off of an existing hero. Just another example of the World Editor's odd behavior. |

Thanks! I gave you reputation! |

Don't worry. In a sense, it's somewhat odd world editor behaviour, but after a while, it all becomes second nature. |

Some things still freak me out... The editor just acts unlogical at times. This upsets me while I'm making maps. I hate when I have to go "ooooh... So *that's* why it didn't work like I though it would". Sucks, but it's still fun making maps I guess. |

Ultimately, there is a way to just take a non-hero unit and turn it into a hero. But, it involves editing a .slk (albeit in a minor way). You don't even have to import the .slk. I don't remember which .slk it is, but if you find the one that describes all the units, and you just change the first letter of the unit's four-letter code to be capitalized, it will become a hero in the WE when you put that .slk into your Warcraft III\Units\ directory. But that's not really worth it, is it? You can just copy the necessary fields to a custom hero and be done with it much faster and with less hassle in the future. |

I'm sorry, but that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard anyone say in this forum. Go find for me this 'hero' ability. |

dude what's your problem anything i say you think is stupid well why don't you take this and shoove it in your brain! or just look in the unit abilities yourself! god dude ITS IN OBJECT EDITOR! ABILITIES- NORMAL THEN GO TO ADD ABILITY AND PRESS H THEN LOOK (KEY WORD) LOOK FOR HERO AND STOP DISSING EVERYTHING I SAY AND WAKE UP! |

Actually there is an ability called hero. But its for inventory use, and 6 slots for items. |

Nope. I still want to know what logic you follow. If giving a unit the "hero inventory" ability, will it magically gain all the necessairy data fields for heroes? :) Like, possible hero names? And hero abilities? ^_^ *harass harass harass* :god_help_us: |
