I know im probably taking a shot in the dark here but recently i purchased a program called ultimate unwrap 3d. I use this program to make uv maps for my models that i create in gmax. The program seems to work very well and allow you a wide range of functions when mapping your model, however whenever i save the model after im done as a 3ds. or md3 file and import it back into gmax the model seems to be very squared looking! Seems as though the faces are no longer smooth and nice looking like before but you can see every little square of the polys. Does anyone know what this could be from or how to correct this problem?
any advice would be greatly appreciated

Convert it to mesh again upon the unwrap modifier then apply new smoothing groups. Or just put a meshsmooth on the entire model with no iltrations.

Damn!!! i think that actually worked , I chose convert to editible mesh/ smooth/ auto smooth and it smoothed it out and didnt add more polys. I have been stuck on this for a good solid month cant believe i didnt figure this out earlier. Thanks alot for the help ill leave you good rep. by the way... Is this problem pretty common usually when you use third party uv programs?
