Hello guys, there is some time since i posted a thread here...well, I´m working on some new models... Well, this thread focus is to ask if any of you had any success converting the WOW models to any know format(.3ds, .obj...etc and etc)...because i have tried all of the regular Wc3 tools that i could put my hands on...and i couldn´t achieve any success. MDXConverter -> can´t convert, it generates a .3ds file that is less than 1% of the total mdx size...i.e-> the mdx has 2MB and it generates a 1kb .3ds file. MDXTextEdit -> it won´t load the model BITURN -> don´t work WAR3FILECONVERTER -> don´t work MDX2OBJ -> it can at least read the file(i guess), but, it gets confused and it generates files which have hundreds of MB. o_O Somebody know how to convert? Has someone achieved any succes? Thank you in advance!!! |

Ripping the models from World of Warcraft is illegal. By doing this, you have violated the contract you signed with Blizzard when you signed up for Beta. A group of Blizzard Goons are on their way to your house right now to destroy your computer, claim all your earthly belongings, and assrape you with a kodobeast. Thank you for your cooperation. |

Who said that i was going to release it to the public?as you can read in my post i´m working on NEW MODELS...and NEW MODELS means exatcly that...to study is no illegal dude...got it?to rip and sell or distribute is illegal. What if i wanted to draw some Naga and them model it using MIlkshape, Blender or whatever i want to use would it be illegal as well?i don´t think so. So explaining you: I asked the people to know if somebody has achieved any succes, but, i haven´t asked any models, or even offered it. Thank you anyway |

One who takes the first step, is too easily tempted to take the second one. |

(Off Topic : Hi Nicoli_s! Long time no chat) Anyway, he's right, it's a totally different model format. And you SHOULD make your own converter, because if you don't you'll never really understand how it works and isn't knowlege everything in this world? If you're really lazy, and stupid, you can get a MDX2 -> OBJ converter To import into War3, you have to then convert the OBJ file into 3DS or GMAX format, then using the art tools, or whatever u use, convert into MDX1. You'd also have to convert BLP2 -> TGA, and then into BLP1 for it to work. I'm not gonna give you the programs to do any of this, but just know that all of them exist either on this forum or elsewhere. |

if you want convert wowbeta version 5.5(3592),you can try my wowmdxTOwc3mdx application. But this tools can't convert animate infomation. when wow's mdx converted, you can using Wc3mdxview show this model. or you can usring 3dMax with impexpmdx.mse plugins load. and if you want convert wow's blp file to tga, you can download my wowblp2tga application. i share this tools and sourcecode before. http://www.wc3campaigns.com/showthread.php?t=65637 |

Hahaha! I got negative rep for my comment up there. Hey, if you're gonna give negative rep, at least have the guts to put your name along with it. :D |

1. Don't even think of using wow models before Wow is actually out. I'm preety sure Blizzard's attack squad (read: the lawyers department ^_^ ) would have your sorry ass for something like that. 2. If you want to put wow models into Warcraft, you'll have to heavily modify them to make them look good. Unless you're good at it, it's not worth the time (yeah, I'm the one complaining )Other than that, use the tool above |
