Guest | I've played maps that have these custom icon pictures for the items.. Like for example I've seen different types of swords (like the human upgrades). How would I go about doing this!? Plz help ;o) Thanks |

Either those maps are using some "hidden" icons tha came with the war3 or the map creator has designed some brand new icons and iserted them on the Map. Grab the War3 Image converter from this site and start to take a look on some hidden icons that come with war3. |

Guest | Ok.. I have that, but how do I get them into the map? |

Guest | Click this link: http://www.wc3campaigns.com/modules....=getit&lid=503 Just extract all those files into your Warcraft III folder and then when you open the worldeditor you should be able to change icons to anything you want! Just find the path name of the icon with your MPQ viewer (For the Sword it is ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNSteelMelee.blp ) and set that as the "Interface Icon" in the unit editor. Hope this helps (And I hope that's the right link...) |

If your making a custom one from scratch that has its own name, you will need to use the mpqviewer thing to extract everything for command buttons, or replaceable textures, or whatever its called. Then, put the custom blp in that the command buttons folder. Then, with the custom editor, just keep the beginning path, and at the end just change the whatever.blp to your new one. Ez as 1, 2, 3... errr. 4,5,6,7,8. |

If you're planning to use one of those hidden icons, all you have to do is use a Modified WE (Like Scio's or mine) and change the Icon path. If you're plannign to create a new icon, the steps are harder: 1) Use Image Extractor to extract any existing icon and save it as TGA. 2) Edit it using any photo editor tool 3) Convert it back to .blp using the same tool used on step 1. 4) Change the icon pathing using a modified WE (like scio's) 5) Insert the icon (the .BLP) to your map using WINMPQ. |

Guest | Here you go...the step by step version: Open up WE (Shorthand for WORLD EDITOR) Go to the custom item you created (or make a new one) Look to the right....In the field that says "Interface Icon" do you see a file pathname (such as ReplacableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNSteelMelee.blp) or do you see an Item name (Such as "Claws of attack +12")??? If you see an item name (Claws of attack +12) then go and download an altered WE (I gave a link a few posts ago). If you see a path name, then your world editor is already modded. Now download "WCIII Image Extractor II" available on this site (wc3campaigns.com) Unzip WCIII Image Extractor II into a new folder in your Warcraft III folder (For example.... ProgramFiles\Warcraft III\MPQViewer) and run it. open the archive "War3.mpq" and you should get a huge list of files or a tree-type file system. Find the folder "Replacable Textures\CommandButtons" and search through it for the picture you want. Then, in your new WE, change the Interface Icon for the item to the pathname of the new picture. Hopefully that made sense...if not please reply again. |

You cant change the interface icon for the items. You will have to import. |

This is simple, so please read this post. Get the image extractor, and you can just use it to view the images, with no need to extract them. Just look at all the different images, and make sure not to use one thats over 64x64, otherwise it wont look right. And the swords and stuff, those arent really hidden or long lost icons, like the original preistess of the moon icon (look at it you will get i kick) they just arent said in the editor. And if you have the UMS We upgrade then it comes with a list of all icons. No pics, but you can experiment. Problem is that it doesnt tell you what size they are either, but beggars cant be choosers. Hope that helps, and if it doesnt then please be more specific. It seems that everyone thinks your trying to do something different, and no ones getting it. Darkness_Shadox, be quiet. You have no idea what your talking about, and if by some act of god you do, then its off track. You can change the icon used for items, and if you cant then you have a mental problem. If you go jump off a 50 foot bridge i'll give you $5 bucks when you hit the ground. |
