Guest | If I open up war3patch.mpq via WinMPQ I get weird names like unknown_00000016. I'm learning how to make my own spells and I've extracted these files: Units\AbilityData.slk Units\HumanAbilityFunc.txt Units\HumanAbilityStrings.txt Units\NightElfAbilityFunc.txt Units\NightElfAbilityStrings.txt Units\OrcAbilityFunc.txt Units\OrcAbilityStrings.txt Units\UndeadAbilityFunc.txt Units\UndeadAbilityStrings.txt Units\NeutralAbilityFunc.txt Units\NeutralAbilityStrings.txt Units\ItemAbilityFunc.txt Units\ItemAbilityStrings.txt The problem is that these aren't coming up when I open the war3patch.mpq. Anyone know what the problem is? Thanks in advance. |

Actually, .mpq extraction and/or editing doesn't come up very frequently at all. |

Guest | well I have another question if you don't mind helping me out. After using the listfile and extracting Abilitydata.slk and I try to use DaishiofDeath's Spell Editor (1.0) but it crashes before it opens it. The .slk file that it comes with opens up fine, though. |

Daishi's spell editor hasn't been updated or even... uh, used, since TFT's release. You don't need it to make custom spells; you can manipulate the .txt's and .slk's by hand to make new spells. But no, I don't know why it's crashing, unless it needs to be updated for new patches. Which isn't likely to happen. If I see him, I'll point him to your thread, but I'm not optimistic. |

Guest | alrite thanks, but is there an updated spell editor tutorial besides the Spell/Ability Editing 101 faq? Maybe one more TFT oriented? |
