A hatching bird

This one is a birthday card to a relative actually :P As the title says, it's a bird in the process of coming out of an egg. I guess the background could have done with some more work, especially the tree and the nest. I'm also having trouble creating a decent sky, tips on that would be appreciated :)

I have to admit that I was kind of influenced by shadowfurys and icbms parasitic egg draw off. I was just thinking of what to put in the card and happened to stumble upon the post and that's when I decided that a hatching bird would be fine! :P



For those interested, I used Photoshop 7 + wacom.

Sketch took about few mins, coloring was between 1 hour to 2 hours.

Looks nice, but what's the card for? If its for a "Congratualtions on a New Baby" kinda thing, then put a few birds flying in the sky, maybe represent a prosperous life, or something, i don't know. Other than that blank sky and the lack of detail in the places you mentioned already, it looks really good.

The card is a birthday card :) Not for a new baby though, I can see why you would think that I guess :]
