the words are the only real explination but i guess buff is a if you will steroid while effect is the art blah blah blah i guess i put it in a shity term if this is bad someone just do a better job explaining i don't think i really got to the point :( |

Nothing is ever that simple. Some buffs have art for instance. A difference that comes to mind is that effects dont have to be attached to a unit (eg Blizzard)while buffs are always given to units (eg Slow) |

Ok.. im not sure anyone has got the right message across yet. Basically, Effect if the EFFECT of what happens when the spell occours (I.E. when you cast flamestrike, the effect is that things burn) While a BUFF is what happens to the target of it (Flamestrike buff is the big flame). For freezing, the frost of the EFFECT of the spell, but the actual thing is a negative BUFF so it is put under buffs. All effects and buffs work slightly difrently so make sure you edit the buff of the ability you are modifying to get the best result. Its good to see that some people actually can be bothered editing theese, im allways annoyed when people leave them As-Is. -Garith |
