Greetings, though I don't post often, i have read of plenty of mods, many good many bad. however the vast majority suffered 2 major problems. 1.They were never REALLY unique 2. they never got finished So my idea is to create a mod that has races that are in no way similiar to Zerg, Protoss, Aliens (the movie) etc. and to actually get it done. Unfortunately however i'm not the best modder with more ideas than anything so hopefully this mod will give other people with great ideas but no way to achieve these things a voice to get things done we would also use all material we find (though never steal anything and give everyone credit) because some mods are obsessed with not using anything that has already been created for everyone to use freely. I already have 2 alright ideas and I might tell the rest of the world of them if there are responses Oh yes ALL help is welcome from ideas to actual material. |

Yes, well, I am a living idea guy, though remaining a fact that I can't remember things then 2 seconds (to inform people who don't know yet - which is hard to believe seeing as I have been rambeling on it for nearly half a year :P - I got a really, and I mean, REALLY short memory) so, it isn't too special to have ideas. Even if they are unique (Hey, I write stories, poems, officialy :P) but the point remains people often hate (especially me) that give the expression of: "I give ideas, and I'm gonna sit back until someone makes it so I can play it". And that is about the same expression you're giving me. Just to let you know... -Fladian |

you have a point there, but i'll try to learn, i have a small amount of knowledge about gmax, and i can get around the world editor. and i have learnt a good few things, but better yet why don't they put in a forum at w3c where people (like me) and the other silent minority can submit unique ideas |

Glad you accepted what I said. There are a handful of people who would get mad because of such. (Void) Anyway, I started out as *hears people scream "Oh no, not this again"* also as someone with ideas, but no skills. It took me long enough, but I developed my skills to be known by most. I became a high classed terrainer who was able to do all other things (excluding JASS, skins and models, partly because of lack of equipment) and became good in it as well. I had my breakdowns which forced me to retire from modding, but I don't regret any moment of it. Why can't other people, you as example, can't do it? There's no reason there. To answer your final question. I actually cannot answer it 100% sure, but if my memory serves (which is just as good as an egg on wheels) then it was because someone once said "This is a modding site, people want mods, not ideas" or something similar. I hope that helps ;) I'm a story writer Don, it is doubtless that I am full with ideas as well. Don't be too proud on it ;) -Fladian |

glad you set straight, I'll try to improve my skills a bit, then i will release my ultimate mod of destruction(mwahaha, cough splutter) although the points i made above i think should be paid attention too, i can name so many mods that were never finished and so many that were completely ununique, i like blizzard because in starcraft (and warcraft 3 to a lesser extent) every race is really truly unique, unlike some strategey games i could mention, where every race is pretty much the same. |

I've seen more then I can remember (duh) projects fail, and I've even seen my very own project fail which I consider unique, but then again, everyone likes their own project, and I am no exception. Though ideas I've added in it, I still have yet to see them in different projects, and I've been sticking to this forum for who knows how long. Warcraft's races weren't *that* unique actually. Orcs, Undead and Humans aren't races which I dare to call unique (well, I should not include 'Humans' in that list, should I? :P) they are very common. Night Elves on the other hand... -Fladian |

warcraft is more unique than age of empires/mythology(not sure havent played) not mention moddable. Starcraft is cooler (and more unique). |

It would probably not be smart to say that I didn't play Age of Empires/Myth. nor Starcraft :P But we were talking about races, not the modding capability ;) And... in my oppinion, the races still seem more unique then for the Age of Emp./Myth. |

you should play stracraft for its greatness (you can get it cheap anywhere) and age of empires you can probably leave alone. starcraft made warcraft what it was. more on topic a cool idea for a race that ive seen nowhere really (except perhaps homeworld) would be a race that could be completely nomadic, and i mean completely. |

I hate to tell you, but Starcraft isn't even for sale out here in the Netherlands :P (Once again, I worked at a toy store for all sakes :P) and I haven't seen any of it. I'll probably play it someday, if I have the time for it then I'll probably buy and/or play it :P You mean a complete new race? I can't help you there, but I did finished (okay, I'm lying, I nearly finished it) an entire new world on paper. Until every detail, even the lenght of the toenail of one of the people out there... a bit exagerated, but it is detailed enough to have that ;) But wasn't I supposed to keep this a secret? ...isn't it hard to believe I'm a moderator? :P -Fladian |

Right, other point shows up, that I'm pretty broke *looks at his drawer to see he is still pretty rich :P* err... I mean, I have to give my money to good purposes, you know something like cancer-fighting and stuff... Ah, who am I kidding, I'm saving money for... well, good times with... well, what my signature says. Did you noticed we fell off-topic? :P (Well, my 'on-topic' is also known as 'off-topic') -Fladian |

Even so, there is no need to revive a rather old thread. And what is wrong with having a small talk like that? |
