The Tales of Bjarni

The title is not permanant :8 .
Im making a campaign about a dude called Bjarni, i need like maybe models and icons, like story help, map designing - this i probly need the most cos im bad at it (althought i atm i cant do the others at all).

erm so heres the map as an attachment (btw i did use some icons off www.wc3sear.ch cos i thought they looked cool so u dont need to beat me about that.

Plz all help available i need and would be much appreciated.

Right, so you're working on a campaign about a dude called Bjarni... but you don't have a story. *sigh* The key element of any campaign... is the story. You're saying above that you don't have one.

Also, some tips if you want to get a team together. Most people are lazy and won't download the file, some others have limited bandwidth and won't download anything unless they see a point. Therefore, I recommend post screenshots of the maps/skins/models...etc.

Modelers are rare, and few of them will join a project unless they see that it is moving along nicely. Therefore, you must convince them that the project is working by showing screens and progress done. Skinners are easier to find, but if you want to find good skinners, then the same rule applies with them.

Finally, no one hardly knows anything about this project. If you want people to join, you have to show them what they're joining. No one will join a project if they don't have a clue as to what's going on.

You said about everything I had to say, though I will say some stuff myself too Santa. And Santa, could you give me a present to use as a present for someone else? :P

Like Santa said, the primary and on top priority part of the campaign, is the story. A campaign needs that the most, and if you don't have that, it is near useless to start one. I'm too tired to ramble on over it, so I'll skip the history part. My arm is stinging too, so I won't make this long... hopefully.

Like Santa said as well, Modelers are rare enough as they are. Don't expect anyone to join up any time soon. Most half-decent modelers are already stuck on a project or are not willing to join a small project. No offense, but you're not someone who can start a project that easily either. But I won't judge without knowing you...

Also, give more information about the project. They only know it is a campaign and... eh... I see a map which I cannot open (WCIII uninstalled) :P Even though there are a handful of people who join projects with no information, they are often very unexperienced theirselves. I am not claiming that they are it always, but often they are.

So, Kazumi, please stick around to learn some things and maybe even join an other project to get some experience too. I'll be checking up later... I'm off watching TV right now, so I can give my arm some rest...

Ok lets start with this guy. rite i do have a story, but i wud rather not disclose all the details of it, basically u play thru the life of bjarni, hes like a warrior in sum army and his parents have killed by a naga who attacked his home. so he sets out after the naga but the naga owns him. end of cinematic map 1. map 2 u choose 1 of the 2 paths the story will take, so far on map 2 both paths are done but i am only on the 3rd map on 1 of the paths im working on, theres a bit of the story included there when u play the map.

as i sed i have a cinematic campaign, map 2, map 3 for 1 path. thats it so far. i havent used ne new models or nething so what exactly do u wanna c? what shud i take screens of?

and fladian its kazumi its kazmak, and as i sed i have a story so thats kool, i can only work on the map on weekends mind so it wont progress that fast. erm nething else u guys?

So, it is a long cinematic actually? Correct me if I'm wrong Santa, but doesn't that mean that the story is even more important in this case? Because, in my sight it is.

You might want to disclose any details about it, but as long as no one really knows what it is about you can't expect any people. Or at least, like Santa also cleared up, people don't join projects with no details.

But since it is a cinematic project, you might want to have someone who checks your grammar. Seeing as your grammar is leaning towards the 'bad' side. And it is the most annoying thing in a cinematic. Yes, it took me a few seconds to understand what you said in a post, excluding that I'm probably coming down with a cold, I am in perfect condition (okay, I'm nervous about tomorrow, but that doesn't really effect my understanding capability)

Kazumi, I don't really know how people are named. I probably got the shortest memory of everyone from this forum, though a lot of people claim that I do this on purpose, I wished I was. But I forget about (not everything, but most) everything after 2 seconds of time, and I'm especially bad with names. So when I see someone's name, I try and think of something (fast) to replace it with and what looks a bit like it. Often, after a month I start to learn the name a bit, but usually I'm very used to the old name. Wazza is called Wasabi by me as example :P
So, excuse me ^^

its not just a cinematic, and i no gramar is a problem wich is y i do have sum1 to chek that for me, and i dont c anything rong with my grammar, every1 understands it fine. map 1 is just cinematic and map 2 is mainly cinematic but im thinking about adding a bit to change that. and dude the map will take about 1 minute to download so stop making accusations and c for ureself, it gets really annoyin.

Then I'm probably getting sick... (Like I said, I was already coming down with a cold and my throat is aching, usually the first thing that shows that I'm getting sick)

Even if it took 1 second to download, I can't play it anyway. Warcraft III is uninstalled on my computer right now, and there are tons of people who refuse to download something. Even if I would have WCIII installed, - and my CD here - then I still wouldn't start the map. I'm not very fond on starting the game just to watch a map, and I'm sure a lot of people here agree with that.

And you also said your grammar isn't the best (Hey, I know still a handful of people who can point me at mistakes of my own) but you can always do something on it. Slang is fine, but you could write words fully. Like "c" to "see" and "y" to whatever-you-would-mean-with-it-at-that-moment (seeing as it has about 4 meanings by now)
And some people are quickly annoyed by it. I can live with it, but not in this condition.

are u talking about in my map? cos my map has perfect grammar as far as i am aware and no slang. and i sed u can play it, it isnt all a cinematic. but is there nething uesful u have to say?

As I see it, I keep seeing it that my posts are at least decently useful. Then again, I am re-reading of what I just said :P (Like I said, I can't remember things)

But still, I remain to the point that you still have to post more information of it. If my memory serves, then I can't even recall who Bjarni (Barney?) is. By all means, give more information.

I don't think you understood my point. First, people are lazy and won't download. Second, some of us (like myself) have limited bandwidth which is resored every month and I have no intentions whatsoever or downloading every files that I come across.


You're absolutly right, there is nothing wrong with your grammar. And I do understand everything you said... after reading your post at least three times, that is. No one, will take you seriously if you write like that. It's a known fact on forums that this kind of writing is frowned upon, in some forums, it's even forbidden by the rules.


Correct. The main factor of a cinematic is the story, then comes the art, followed by music. If you don't have a story in your cinematic, you may as well stop wasting your time with it.

That too, people are also lazy to stick to limited bandwidth. No, I don't have one, as is told. Though I actually have one, of 300 gig. a month, problem also occured that I crossed that limit last month. (Not crossed it once, but I crossed it threefold, I'm not sure how I did it, but that's why I was worried about downloading anything for a while) But anyway mostly it is just the lazyness of people, or in my case, an uninstalled WCIII :P

You gave me quite a laugh there Santa :D I thought it was just me who gave it a hard time seeing as I got an older brother who is a grammar nazi, not to mention me being quite sensitive about grammar. Would someone use such words on animechains.net forum, then I could easily get used to it, but sc.heerenveen.org or wc3campaigns.com is something else. Those are just places which I can't get used to.
True, some forums completely forbid it but it is mostly the people there who are so badly annoyed by it.

And can anyone tell me why so many people type like that on 'forums'? True, it is faster (not for me though) but you'll only have profit of it if you type faster with the full words, like I use as a wild example. On a side note, excuse any grammar mistake I make, I eh... 'thinged' my left wrist. (Not "broke my wrist" but something a little less)

See, I was right according the story ;) But that question was sort of answered by Kazumi a while ago :P

As in the question of those Screen shots. Random shots, something you could be proud of, how it would look like. Look around in other project threads, and look how they do it. Just be a bit creative. I do not expect people to be as creative as I am (no, I'm not bragging, but ask yourself this before anything else: "if you cannot remember things longer then 2 seconds, don't you need to be more creative then the normal human? My answer to it is yes, and so I am"

Anyway, I'm gonna keep my left wrist cool. Place a small piece of cloth with some iceblocks in it or something on it... I'll do whatever it takes to get this recovered fast.
