I'm currently working on a dynamic new RPG which should hopefully bust some of the confined limitations of the RPG genre. I'm going to have a total of 10 heroes + 10 players (may reduce; 5-6 players works best imo), heros can go to lvl. 20 and there's a big thing with color. Each hero is designed to fit one of the player colors (except pink n brown), and the system is arranged so that players start out as Black and they get their color and name changed when they pick a hero. believe me, the heros look awesome so far (5 being worked on).I'm using exactly 0 hero models, instead preferring to use less-used models, soundsets, and other art, so that the heroes seem newer. In addition, the hero skills are designed intuitively so that each hero has a distinctive and interesting play style. As for items, a number of things are being worked on to help expand from the cramped 6-item inventory of yore and introduce some interesting ideas. Refillable items, like empty vials, bowls, orbs and amulets, have multiple charges of some basic stuff like HP and mana potions, and can be refilled at any fountain or pool of water. Furthurmore, you can send off unwanted or spare items to a collective Item Stash where you can pick it up and sell it later, and you can send these items off from anywhere!! Some more innovative item concepts include Gamble items (can be good or bad) and eventually Hero items which are uniquely made for each hero. Finally i'm introfucing Puzzles and Puzzle SKills - obstacles which are a welcome break from the monotonous fighting. Some puzzles can or (for certain optional/secret things) MUST be solved using Puzzle Skills unique to each hero (1-3 per hero; doesn't take skill pts.). These Puzzle Skills can also be used just for messing around. Also; Killer Bosses, Vehicle Stages, Death Minigames, Funky Tilesets and more in Warlord255's XRPG!! assistant positions are open, operators standing by! |
