Hey, whenever I edit hero ability levels, nothing happens. I set my hero to max level 20, with 5 abilities, each with 4 different levels. But nothing happened. I saved it and made sure the changes were still there, and they were. But my hero could still only go to level 10, and he had the 5 abilities, but they could only go to level 3. Why is this?

Ahhhhh...ok, I get it. For some reason, the abilities only say they can reach level 3, but in reality, they go to level 4...i just don't know how to change the text saying what the stats are for the abilities at level 4. Well, I know how, but the text doesn't fit inside the box for the tooltip description. Thanx

Typically, for high-level abilities, a lot of mappers put a general summary of the differences from level-to-level in the learner tip field. For example, "Does damage to a single target. Mana cost and cooldown decrease and damage and range increase each level."

True, I would also like to specify the statistics for each level of the ability...which I still am not sure how to fit inside the box! :stolen_emote: Thanx

Hmm... is it possible to do this by editing the strings textfile? Or in the editor somehow by linking to some other string...?

The allowed number of characters for that field used to be quite low, but since a soon-after-release patch (I forget which) it got much bigger. How many levels are you attempting to specify?

Perhaps shift-clicking would allow you to defeat the character restriction, but I don't know.

Otherwise, you could almost certainly open up 1.17's AbilityData.slk and alter the value that it has as max characters, and then put that in Warcraft III\Units\ to load when you load WE.
