I'm trying to create an external view of the ancient city of Zin-Azshari (or, for now, at least the palace area) I've got the basic layout(sort of) but I have no idea what to fill it in with... Gitlich, Reinless, or any other master terrainer, advice? |

Je suggest to get creative with arcs, collums and other archway type doodads, I aussi suggest you don't use those buildings as they don't look good when used in cinematics when units are placed next to them, they are better off as towers on un hill faraway. For "intersections" or lobby type areas of a outdoor palace Je suggest placing a fountain the center, surrounded by une wall of some sorts et then a double collum archway on each et the branches of that intersection. Try to avoid using flower boxes or un few wooden objects unless un large amount of the palace est wooden other wise these objects standout too much, try to make everything flow and not suddenly abrutly change to un new design unless it est serperated somehow, be it un gate or wall. |

well, that kinda helps, but arches and collums and stuff are pretty much a "duh!" I sort of need to use those tower buildings because their death animation is perfect for what I want in the scene. So, I want to build around them... I'm just not sure where to start or what other doodads are good to use for this type of thing, most of the common ones are self evident, but there just aren't that many of those, and large cities made from them start to look bland... So, what I really need are ideas of what off-the-beaten-path doodads I should use but havn't thought of. (for Example, back when I first joined wc3campaigns, I would never have thought to use tables for a wooden floor, but it seems so obvious now. That kind of thing.) |

Im not a master terrainer, but here's my opinion. I like Wazza's royal garden idea. About 8 months ago I made a cinematic using these buildings and I know what u mean about the death animations because I did the same thing in m cinamatic. The garden is a GOOD iDEA, but the warrior statues also blend very good with these buildings. The whale statues works well too. You can also create a building in the extra area by uising the arches and the white stair doodad made by Reinless. And the obvious doodads are a must as well, like the arches, and whatever else you find in tileset specific doodads. If you need any ideas on this kind of terrain you can dl my cinematic chapters in my sig. If you run weu you can open the amps up and see what I did, or just watch it. |
