Guest | Ok....I know the skinny on how most people feel about unprotecting and protecting maps. I am not trying to start another debate. I both agree and disagree with points and views made on both sides of the table. However I have a particular map that has some HUGE potential. However, needs some major balance changes and some more unit requirements...etc. etc. I would normally e-mail the creator and request an unprotected copy and get permission to modify the map; however, no where at all on the map that i can find lists a creator or a way, for that matter, to get in contact with the creator. I have attempted to unprotect this map to no avail and am at ends wit. If someone could possibly unprotect it and get me a copy, or just figure out who made it I would be very grateful. The maps name is Boat_Protected_1.32 I have attached a copy of the map. The name it shows in b.net is Battle Ships v. 1.32. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks! |

Well, I dont know who this alcoholic dude is but w/e. And I had no idea that you people were that way on this site. I've read some of the other posts and knew how you stand on the subject but I figured someone would at least be willing to help out with either figuring out who wrote the map or help in unprotecting it giving the circumstances. But if someone could get banned by helping.....well, to be quite frank, thats crap, but i'm not here to argue or get banned myself. Just trying to get some help and further increase the enjoyment of war3. |

Guest | His saying that not many people would WANT to help you unprotect a map, simply because you have to think about the word - "protection". The creator doesn't want a billion fake versions of his map and has taken his stand. If you really want to change it, I suggest you do as you said, hunt down the creator. If you can't find him, your only hopes is that someone on this forum is that person or someone who knows him/her. Else you might have to wait for another release where they actually put their name on it. (If people could unprotect a map easily, there would no longer be a point to protecting it) |
