Ive seen tutorials on how to add Particle Emitters to models, but Ribbon Emitters are proving to be more complicated. I'm not sure if someone wrote a tutorial about Ribbon emitters, but if they did, where is the thread?

Edit: Here is a previously edited .mdl file of mine in which i tried to add a ribbon emitter to. It converts to MDX, but when i upload it into World Editor, it crashes the World Editor. Can anyone help me out?

This one's easy: the ribbon is using materialID 5, which doesn't exist in your model, hence the crash. Looking up top, I think you want/meant to use materialID 4.

Hrm...i dunno...there were 6 material ids that I saw....so id 5 would be the last one. I'll try it anyway and see how it works.

I got the ribbon emitter to work, but the emitter appears perpendicular to the sword rather than parallel. Is that an issue with the bone or the emitter itself? Aside from that, the emitter works and WE isn't crashing. Here's the mdl file.

Either one. Not in the sense that it's an issue in the bug sense, but one of the two must be rotated. I'd recommend going with the ribbon itself, since the bone may need to be in a particular rotation for other reasons. Assuming you're working in notepad or via oinker's programs, you'll probably need to add in a rotation tag manually. I'm at work right now and don't have time to find the post I'd made going into far more detail about rotations in notepad, but a forum search should find it (search for "euler" and "quaternion" as keywords).

Try this site:
http://wct.wc3campaigns.com/Rotation.htm

to see what rotation values you'll need to "twist" the ribbon. (also, I'm on a mac right now, and the site doesn't load, but let me know if it can't load on a pc - I'll dredge up the old post that has the other location of the applet).

If this makes no sense at all, let me know, and when I'm on my own comp later, I'll try to go into more detail.
