Yeah, pretty nice stuff you got here. Especially like the first lamp and the baby sleeping at the bottom. Good work.

thx you 2 for the comments.... ive been working on drawing mostly still lifes and crap due to art class. it gives me practice on value, and shading in general. Im getting better in shading, but its still hard for me to find the midtones. i can pick up on the really light, and really dark tones, but i just start B.S.ing the middle shades....

drawing w/o ref was useless.. or rather not helpful b/c it doesnt help u find value. the pic of the woman with that hunchedback dude was non refed.. it helps me execute what ive learned from drawing still lifes and such, but i cant really pick up the right shades, or proportions if i didnt do figure drawings, or refed pictures. thats mostly why i havent been posting pics lately.. havent exactly been drawing WC3 related stuff. lol

hey fung I think its very inspiring when i see other plp doing studies

need to start doing more studies my self been getting lazy and slacking off.

I like the babies it reads well from far away. I think elpises on the lamp's cover look a bit off.

heh mid tones is the most hardest part. I find it its easier if I think in planes and edges. when you model the planes its like the half tone just comes out naturally, err kinda hard to explain.

right now Im having a tremendously hard time with value on diff materials. you know like a black shirt will light up diff then a black plastic or black leather.

another thing that boggles my head is how come we can see diff values in shadow areas. like you put a dark shirt and a light shirt in the shadow and you can see that shet in the shadow. At first i thought it was somekind of local value thing , darker object has darker shadows. But now im thinking it has to do something with lighter colors reflect more ambient light than darker colors.

argg some one needs to explain this shet to me sigh :(

fung, you should work on your shading more, especially in the first lamp drawing. It doesn't give the rounded look that you'd expect a lamp to have. this is probably because of the direction that you're shading in. instead of going horizontally, try shading along the contours of the lamp, meaning shade in the same direction your outline is going. also try not to overlap the ends of your strokes. the overlapped areas tend to become darker than your other values, and it also takes away from the smooth transition from light to dark on rounded objects.
