Forming of Lorien War Team (Making RPG)

Im amazed that there hasnt been an epic Lord of the Rings RPG yet.

Well, I've got plans to make a real good one and I suppose I could use with a skilled terrainer to help me. My only weakness seems to be terrain. Its my belief that I should inform you all about my plans for this map before I make my demands so here

-The map will be like Ring Wars, all of Middle-Earth
-All areas will be accessible eg. Moria, Mordor, Dunland, Harad and so on
-You can only play as the good side
-Characters you can choose: The Fellowship and maybe some others (if all goes well I might even add Haldir as a playable NPC or Faramir or something)
-All characters of as NPCs and quests that may shape the story eg: Osgiliath Quest: Defend the River! If quest fails Siege of Pelennor begins which in orcs appear outside Gondor.
-Characters can make their own camps and recruit mercenaries to make their own armies.
-Players can corrupt themselves and join Mordor (if things work out and map is done well)

Well its all of Middle-Earth, and you can build your base and stuff... but I'll definately need a partner to help. Those who join me shall be part of the Lorien War Team (the team name) and we will work on this RPG together.
Those who wish to join the Lorien War Team tell me in this forum and explain your talents.

I'm too tired, I'm in a too hyper mood and I'm still enjoying the victory of Holland so, you'll only get a half assed answer of your "being amazed of" but it is true none the less. If I wake up a tad early, I'll either edit or post again out here...

Why there isn't such a RPG? Because Dorelian and I always forced them to cancel... sort of. *ALL* Lord of the Rings projects (excluding cinematics) FAILED. Badly! I don't have any confidence in any of them, nor do I really want to play them.
A lot of projects of Lord of the Rings have been made, and barely anyone were lifted from the ground, not to mention anyone finishing it.

And on a little request, could you try to use an easier readable color then Dark Red? :P I got a bad sight in the evening :P

*yawn* How many more threads?

Ok yes... but anyway those who wish to join the Lorien War Team post a reply, explain what you're good at and wait for my answer, either in this thread or by Private Message. :8

Those who dont have an interest in joining please take your comments somewhere else this isnt a chat room. :\

Maybe so, I don't got any real interest in this either, but I can feel free to post wherever I want kiddo.

Anyway, like I said, I was ready to give some more information out here.
Well, LOTR projects are often grippen way too high, with other words, way too hard to make. I have no doubt that it will be the case with this. Seeing as LOTR projects always fail, they often get only a few fans or people who support it.

I do not suggest you continue this project.

Anyway thanks for your suggestions, Fladian.

Still I believe this project can work... if none wish to help me on this site then thats really no problem. There are many other sites and b.net too. :\

Anyway I will not back out my good Fladian... sure you may post what you like but
please dont criticize my attempts to make a good map. If you dont think it will work thats your opinion and I respect that... :\

Anyway for those who care to support me in the project, just to let you all know. I will not stop, and am willing to put work into my ideas and plans and will finish and complete them all, as I always have. So for those who wish to join me, let me know.

I'm willing to hear you out.

Just because I'm relatively new to this website doesn't mean I haven't done many other projects and maps on other websites...

Well... yes i suppose

Please check your private message list... coz i will send you frequently. Yes Legion, it is time to start the project. I've been really looking forward to for a long time.

Well, even if you have slight skills in terrain I'd luv to have your help even in that. All of Middle-Earth is not an easy task at all... :\

:8 Well, I've been trying to manage to get a skin. It is based on Haldir, my favourite character. The description: Try and get the skin as close to the movie character as possible. Red cape, golden armour and so on.

The original skin would be a Priest. The Reign of Chaos one. A skinner i met said the TFT Priest and Reign of Chaos priests are different. Well, I would like the Reign of Chaos Priest with Spell Breaker type armour skinned on. That is pretty much like Haldir's original armour. If you can sorta get the staff off Id appreciate it. Not sure if that is modelling, but dunno maybe you can.

And I'm amazed you haven't seen any of them since there are quite a few out there. Look around, and you'll find them.

I think you should rather do it TFT Orc Campaigns style. One HUGE epic map has a lot of drawbacks:
1) The terrainer simply gets tired by looking at the size of the map he is going to have to do all by himself. Therefore he is very slow on it.
2) It can lag like hell.
3) It's awfully long to trigger
4) It's often a pain in the ass on the gameplay side since you keep having to go back and forth all over the map over areas you've already seen a 100 times over and over.
5) The terrainer usually can't do what he wants because of limited tilesets.
6) The map will have to be bad quality because of the doodad limit. Therefore the map will look ugly with too few doodads.

I suggest making a lot of small maps and linking them together like the Orc Campaign. Because:
1) It's easier for the terrainer and he doesn't get discouraged just by looking at the size of the map.
2) Won't lag.
3) Easy to trigger
4) Gameplay is far better since you don't go over and over seen-before areas.
5) You can have much more tilesets together.
6) You won't suffer from the Doodad limit. And your maps will look beautiful.

I don't think you should alter the storyline like that. The Lord of the Rings' plot is really good, and it would be a shame to spoil it all.
One question though, are you basing this on the movie? Or the book? If the latter, good. If the former, then I advise on reading the book for accuracy.

A little competition never hurts...

Santa, true, there are quite an amount out there, but you might as well expect that they are canceled. NO LOTR project have ever been finished in the Wc3c history... I can tell... (I am not counting Cinematics with this btw)

Very nicely explained Satanas. I couldn've done it better... no, I really couldn't. Not to praise or anything, but I really couldn't do it better :P Since you said things which I didn't even think about, even though I'm a terrainer myself.

Competetion in this case has more advantages then disadvantages.
