I did this in about 30 minutes this morning in Photoshop with my laptop's touchpad. I'd appreciate comments about what I could improve, besides the fact that it's blurry.

Here was my reference:

I don't like using references, but I'm not good with female faces.

Thanks in advance.

Oh well.

Thanks for the comment. I see what you mean about the eye.

GJ but yes the eyes are not as good (it's also the hardest part). And she's not looking in the same direction (but maybe it's normal, you don't have to follow exactly the reference).
Just curious: what tools did you use?

Isn't it just a digital improve of the reference pic?

No - I used the other picture as a reference and then drew mine from scratch.

I used dodge+burn+smudge on a white background.

I bet it would look better if you didn't dodge, burn, and whatnot. Keep it pure.

I think that's some amazing work, seriously. To nitpick though? The forehead is pushed slightly back. Bring it out more, and that might be what is wrong with the eyes.

Seriously though, amazing work. Take a notch down though on the special effects.

Well, without trying to sound like a hater, really what has the dodge and burn accomplished?

Nothing wrong with dodge or burn. But I just think this picture would probably look better without it. Less is more and whatnot.

Um, the entire thing was made with dodge and burn. I started with a white document, and started burning, using dodge when I went too far.

Ah, nevermind then. I was thinking you started with a pencil first. Nevermind, I apologize. Is all good all the time, mensch.
