I guess a better question is exactly what you're trying to learn. The list represents the specifications of the mdl format. I'd consider myself at least so-so at mdl editing and barely scratch the surface of undertanding all of that. On the other hand, notice that it includes ALL parameters that go with each aspect of the model. So, for example, in the particle emitter section, it includes all parameters, including those which aren't often actually used by blizzard models (like "DontInherit { Rotation }," whatever that means. Hmmmm, actually, that could be VERY useful if it does what I think it does, but I digress). Anyway, the specs are probably most useful if you're already pretty well versed on how model editing works in a nuts-and-bolts sense (as opposed to simply working with a program). If you have specific questions about mdl editing, there's almost certainly a few people around who can answer them. If you're trying to learn the mdl format and want to learn the basics, there's a few tutorials around, some specialized (there's two dealing solely with emitters) some more generalized. I believe one of the stickied threads has links to a bunch of them. If you still can't find what you're looking for, I'd recommend using the search page. Using the mdl keywords as search terms can be useful to find relevent sites. Someplace, I added a reply to a thread that included a bunch of basic terms and conventions that are used by the mdl format. If you search and can't find it, and want it, reply, and I'll try to track it down. |

Guest | Thanks Oinkerwinkle for the file, I had a quick look and it is what I'm after! And for Ari, if you could point me to the place where the basic terms and conventions you post. It will definately boot learning! |

http://www.wc3campaigns.com/showpost...7&postcount=13 This is hardly the be all and end all of mdl editing, but it does explain a few of the really basic things that are prerequisites to doing anything more advanced. Let me know if you have any questions. |
