I'm going to be updating this thread every so often- days, weeks, months- with newly skinned Majesty models for my mod, that should be bundled up and placed in the gallery after receiving any critique you might care to make. I might even listen. ;) (Skinning is actually done in Bryce 4 via wavefront .obj export, but rendering options have been configured to give a decent match for eventual in-game appearance. I think.) For now, here's the Level 1 Palace. You may have seen it before, but the walls have proper battlements and there are other sundry small improvements. ![]() Here's the Warriors' Guild. Different angle from the original game sprite, but otherwise quite similar. ![]() And the house model. I'm on a roll. ![]() Blacksmith, level 1. Apologies for the appalling transparency dithering. ![]() Marketplace, level 1. May need a little more work here and there, but roughly in order. ![]() Warrior model. Your basic, bread and butter meat shie- *cough* stalwart defender of the realm. ![]() Taaax Collector... ![]() City Guard. ![]() All constructive comments would be appreciated. Yours, Alfryd |

Since flames took the optimistic approah, i won't. Quote:
That will change in war 3. I wish to see a repost of war3 rendered skins in this case. I do 3ds max, and the skins are godly. War 3 reduces, thats all. Still, i like it. I would like a flag. Thats about all. Oh,, and a palace is a leasieurely place. THats a fortification you have there. The palace at versailles had NO BATTLEMENTS ATOP WALLS. It has gardens and stautues. ANyays, jsut picking at the bones sicne nothing else is wrong..... |

Not to worry. Subsequent tiers appear more luxurious and 'palacial.' I'll try to get a shot in-game some time in the near future. |

It looks really good. No CnC here. What was the original like, btw? |

Ah Majesty, the only strategy game where your units have minds of their own. They would only do what you want them to IF you provide a reward. That was its downfall for me. I prefer absolute control. |

I've attached a pic of the original sprite. There ae substantial differences, but you're right- there is a flag! It's true that Majesty takes complete unit control away from you. On the other hand, this eliminates early rushes, harassing, using units as meat shields, and various other tactics I detest with the very fibre of my being. What I find irritating isn't so much that my heroes need rewards to do my will (which necessitates a healthy economy,) but that I have to entice them en masse, instead of as individuals, and there are only a few things I can ask them to do. I can put a bounty on the head of a troll for 200, but I can't get my stealthiest rogue to tail the enemy paladin for 100 gold a day. There are plenty of ways Majesty could incorporate both more Sim and RTS elements and be the better game for it, but that's a discussion for elsewhere. |

House model, under construction in-game (courtesy of Jigrael:) Image quality is somewhat lower, IMHO, but decently close to the Bryce rendition. I'll try to get shots of the others in-game in the near future. EDIT: New shot of stand animation is up above. it looked well enough that I was happy to replace the Bryce version. :) |
