Compiling Problem

Hey guys.

I have a problem compiling AMAI with the Strategy Manager.
I've downloaded AMAI 2.40 DE and the Perl version for XP "ActivePerl-5.6.1.638".
IN the DOS-Window where you can see the progress is everything ok exept of the line "Unknown discipline ':utf8' at ejass.pl line 38."
above every compiling progress.
In the dos-Box is shown that the files which are compiled are only having one line, but if you open it nothing is in it , although, the DOS-Boxs shows "Making AMAI has Finished"!!!

the problem is in the following files:

-Blizzard.j
-common.ai
-undead.ai
-orc.ai
-human.ai

Hope you answer soon with a good answer ;)

Strange, all thies but not elf.ai?

well it looks like a error with converting the chat text to utf-8 for some reason, unfortunatly I can't help you much with that, have to wait for AIAndy to get back. :/

Update: Andy says your ActivePerl is too old, download newer version.

UTF-8 is the encoding that Warcraft uses (it is a unicode derivate so it can encode characters of loads of languages). Unicode support is available in ActivePerl 5.6x, but has only been properly done since 5.8x so I suggest upgrading ActivePerl (there might be some way to make it work in 5.6x, but I am unsure what that requires).

Sry I've forgotten the elf.ai :god_help_us:

I'll try this tomorrow, cause I have no time now.
But thanks for your replys.
