what ive been having to do til i find a better way is this.

extract an icon from the main mpq
open your photo editor (mine adobe)
load both the pictures into it
change the one you want to use to a 58x58 pixel
copy that entire picture
paste into new picture
save as .tga

i know it prolly aint supposed to be that hard, but i got it working. think it has something to do with how you create the border. differant shades or somin. hope that helps.

ty for the help, but I found an easyer way , you make the icon in fireworks, photoshop, paint w/e, make sure its in .tga or bmp format, use warcraft 3 viewer, and convert it in there, and say yes to adding opaque(or however the hell its spelled), then it'll work when u import it, god that took me a long time to figure out :god_help_us:

I extracted an icon from the game's mpq file, opened W3M Map Uitilities, used the edit button function in it, added an auto cast version of the icon and imported it into my map. I DID make a disabled path and an enabled path for my icon, but for some reason the icon didn't show up (it didn't even appear in the editor, and in the game it was replaced by a green square). Then i tried importing the original icon before it was changed in anyway, and it worked perfectly fine. Does anyone know what that indicates or how they can help me

BlaspheemingBoB,

i think you have to leave the border how it is. somin bout blacks and greys. i dont know exactly but thought i saw something about that. anyhow, the way i mentioned above work for me everytime. if you arent keeping the border, be sure to, and save as 32 bit (?) hope you get it working.
