Legends of Warcraft

Here are my ideas for a campaign. Please respond if interested.

Core Concept
The idea is to create an experience in the Warcraft universe similiar to World of Warcraft. I realize there have been quite a few maps based on WoW, so this will be only loosely based. Legends of Warcraft (Title WiP) will be a freeform campaign, similiar in style to the TfT Orc Bonus Campaign. You will choose your race and mastery and adventure through Azeroth preforming quests, earning money, and killing bosses.

Races and Masteries
In the beginning of the game you must choose a race and mastery. These determine your charecter model, abilities, and how NPC's react to you.
Races:
Human
Dwarf
Night Elf
Blood Elf
Gnome
Naga
Satyr
Tauren
Troll
Orc
Undead (Scourge or Forsaken)
Pandaren
Eredar

Masteries:
Skill Melee
Barbaric Melee
Arcane Magic
Warlock/Vodoo Magic
Shamanic Magic
Stealth
Paladin

Each race will have it's own start location as well. (E.X. Night Elves - Teldrassil. Eredar - Lower Maelstrom)

Parties

Certain NPC's can be used to form parties with. Chen Stormstout, Maiev Shadowsong, and other important story charecters can be added to your party. I will think up some new charecters as well.

Areas

You will be able to transit through different areas in the game. Each seperate area will be represented by a submap. There are some places that allow easy transport through continents, such as boats from Lordaeron to Kalimdor, and Kalimdor to Northrend. NPC's will react differently depending on where you are in relation to your race.

What I Need

Modeller/Skinner (Not necessary, but would add a nice touch)
Terrainer (I can do most of it myself, but I'm not great)
Triggerer (I can do this mostly as well, but also not great)
Cinematics (Haven't had much experience with this at all, really)
Concept Art (It would be nice to know what we're doing and have some concepts for it)

Although this might sound like a bit, I am not slacking off. I will do concepts, unit creation, terrain, outlining, and organizing.
If you're interested, please let me know!

Hmmm... Frost Fire, this isn't really the smallest project ever, are you sure you are able to do it? Since I doubt most of the experienced people would even bother getting this from the ground.

I think he can as this type of map can be very small and contains only 5-6 submaps as it can be enormous and contains hundreds...

Thanks, everyone. Have any of you checked out the blog? It's mediocre, but it's just something to record the progress on. Also, because the title was WiP, I need a better one.

Flad, I know very well what I'm getting myself into. I'm willing to be dedicated and who knows, if it gets off the ground nicely I might want to consider trying to get it hosted! ;) Thanks for concern though.

Perhaps should we begin with a continent, even a region first. Lordaeron, is a good area to begin with, because there is both bad and good guys (the forsaken in the undead city and the human of Gilneas and of Stromgard). Add to that the Undead's loyalists under Kel-Thuzad command, the high elves remnant, the dwarves of Aerie Peaks, the remaining orcs of Alteracs, the trolls of Zul aman and the night elf expeditionary corp near Dalaran... A bunch of area where people can begin playing!

Yup, sounds like a good idea to me. I'll start the basic terraining for the ruins of Dalaran. By the way, here are some ideas for partyable NPC's:

Dulvar Mindmaster
Race: Human, Mastery: Arcane Magic, Alignment: Alliance, Partyable to: All Alliacane Charecters

Gur`vul
Race: Orc, Mastery: Shamanic Magic, Alignment: Horde, Partyable to: All Horde charecters.

Llana Nightfire
Race: Scourge, Previously Night Elf,
Mastery: Stealth, Alignment: Scourge, Partyable to: All Scourge charecters.

Thel Irondraft
Race: Pandaren, Mastery: Skill Melee, Alignment: None, Patyable to: Anyone.

Also, are we including any cool systems, like the blacksmithing in WoW?

I think most of Dalaran must not be availlable in the demo(i am sure there will be a demo version) cause it's the way to Outland, and as Outland is the not really on the list now, most of dalaran must remain restricted. For now...

I had the idea of giving Commercial abilities:
- Mining: can extract gold from mining. You have to go in mines who gets you into a giant map full of stone blocking your way. To break the stones you need the ability, more level you have in it, faster you can break stone. You can find sometimes money or gems that can be selled or iron for Blacksmither or Stone golem... Kobold, Lava elementals, Undeads Catatombs can be also found.
- Lumbercutting: You can cut lumber to access new area in the map and to get lumber item to sell in a Lumber mill.
- Blacksmithing: You can use minerals(Bronze, iron, Thorium) you either buy at the mine or you found to make new weapons. Could be hard to do so better to wait for a good trigerrer who wanted to do that.
- Potionmaking: you can use herbs to make potions. Same than blacksmithing

K, sounds good. I did some really nice terraining when I was back home. Sux that I'm at my grandmas house now, and can't work on it. He has Wc3 tho so I could do some non-Dalaran stuff here.

Important locations of Lordaeron:
- Gilneas: The human town of Gilneas is a possible starting town for human player. It has a very good military installation in wich you can train nearly any Human fighting capacity (defend, Swordmanship, horse training, ...). It's Docks receive Vessels from Stromgard, Southshore, Kul-tiras(not availlable in demo i think) and New-Stormwind(n/a in demo). With its very strong defences, no undead or orc hero will enter in this town with at least a good fighting experiences, and a good reason as the town gards would attempt to kill them with no ceremony.
Playable hero: Elodia Holyspear: Race: Human, Mastery: Skilled Melee, Alignment: Alliance, Partyable to: All Alliance Character
Niece of Gilneas King, she has searched for adventure all her life. She is a strong warrior that would defend herself but her presence will make Gilneas Forces to be your ennemies as they attempt to get her back to the king's Castle.
Important locations of Lordaeron:
- Southshore: The human town of Southshore is an important Shipyard since the end of the Orc war. Even if its outskirt are full of Orc skeletons and of Trolls it's a good place to find a ship to any human Docks.
Playable hero: Blackbeard: Race: Human, Mastery: Skilled Melee+Seafaring(give him bonus against Sea creature) Alignment: Bandit, Partyable to: All Criminal Character
Great Pirate of the great sea, as he was called in his youth, Blackbeard has lost all his crew when the orcs Attacked Southshore... he is now wandering with no will in the Inns of the new-build Shipyard.
- Hillsbrad: The human town of Hillsbrad has been rebuild since the orc's invasion. Now a powerfull militia is keeping the town out of reach from the undead. You can found there good Barracks.
- Hidden Troll's kingdom: Can be the troll hero starting town. Near Hillsbrad, the trolls were never defeated, even after the second orc war end. A powerfull Troll leader, Zull-Gin, veteran of the orc war, Regrouped much of his Forces there and, using well-paid goblin, he digged deep underground a maze of tunnels to hide his people from the Alliance patrols. You can found here whatever a troll need, including a dark art "school".
Playable hero: Zorin Brain-crusher Race: Troll, Mastery: savage Melee Alignment: Troll, Partyable to: Troll
A forest troll, that means he doesn't have any philosophical problem, just want to cut into humans or anything else in compensation.

What do you think for now? I take them all from warcraft universe, exept the hidden troll's kingdom who is based on a reality still.
