i would suggest opening up some maps that are already out there and looking around. then try to make your own when you feel that you know something.

Jammer dat je naam niet lang genoeg is, he? :P

Anyway, like War3 editor suggests the first time you start it up; look through some already existing maps and see how they're put together. If you get an error opening a map, dont worry. Your editor isn't broken, but the map is 'protected' by its' creator.

Yeah and then you could think what map you would like to make and just look and think how this can be done.

start by opening some general melee maps. like DivideAndConquer, and get a feel for creating new units and items... try to stay clear of spells if your a very early beginer

once you get the hang of creating units and items... play around with some already made melee maps, i suggest Divide And Conquer... and add some items, change the races around to suit you... make upgradable towers.

just get a good feeling for the editor and using it. play with some basic triggers, theres plenty of tutorials available

once you get the hang of unit creation, maybe open up the map "war chasers"... and have a look at the spells there... then open up the trigger editor and have a look at their systems.
