Movement Ideas?

Alrighty, after creating my little model thingie, I was thinking "Now... how does this thing walk...?" Here is what it looks like so far:

Image

Maybe it could spring off of its front legs, then put its back leg forward in the air, etc. Or maybe I could just make it turn its torso about 40 degrees with a normal-ish walk movement...

Well, I am wondering what some of you might suggest for me?

Alrighty, I think that this is the movement that I will go with:

Video 1 (DivX 5.1.1 Codec)

I still need to work on smoothing it all and make it seem more like it is in gravity, but I think that style of movement is the only possible one that will not look totally fake.

i think ia spider like thing would be best. like leg 1, then 2, then finaly the back leg. a spring onff the legs thing would be cool though. couldnt open the video tho.

Thanks for the comments ^_^ As for the "spider-walking", to pick up Leg one, you would be resting on two legs with a large mass pulling you to one side. It might work to do it with the front two legs quickly going out, and then hopping the back leg in.

The reason that you could not view the AVI file was due to you not having the codec installed. I am not sure what a normal AVI codec is that comes defaulted on Windows XP machines, so I just chose that.

EDIT:

Windrunner, were you talking about something like this?

Video 2 (DivX 4.12 Codec)

I think it might be the best way now =D

i have XP but i cant watch the video. it says there was a error during downloaden and something with the decompression. and something with classfactory. i dont know how to fix it.

i was thinking to rotate the body a bit to the back, so it looks like hes pushing up his body with his front legs. then move his front legs forward. move the body back and then his other leg quikly forward.

If you are having problems viewing the videos, download the DivX codec here:

Thanks! =D I have just made a treadmill-look animation:

Video 3 (DivX 5.1.1 Codec)

I would like to know if anything looks wrong with it before I work on throwing it through a Warcraft 3 convertor. Any criticism at all is appreciated.

The only problem that I am having right now is that when I convert the 3DS Max 6 file to a 3DS Max 4 one, the skin modifier is not supported, and so nothing works. Is there some way that I can make each frame of the animation of the model static so that it does not rely on the bones and helpers when it is put into 3DS Max 4?

i dont know...maybe convert it to mdx then to 3ds 4.
or you could transfer animations. first you make a copy of the original model.
when you converted it to 3ds 4 and did what you wanted to do, you just transfer the animations from the original to the new one. but im not sure of all what i just said ill work tho.

Alright, I got converting to work, even though I have to redo the skin modifier. Although when I made previous models, I never used bones, and with this one, nothing gets animated in the preview -.-

So right now, only the bones-not-going-with-the-model is my problem, and any direct help or links would be loved.
