Cameras and Unit Portraits

Hi guys, I dont really have any idea of where 2 post this, so I'll just ask here. Some models like unit portraits disappear from the view when u move camera to a certain distance. I mean like u cant go "into" the model with the camera like with other models. And cuz its... kinda stupid looking to have a unit with no body on the map I really need 2 place a close camera, but then the model disappears ... Any of u have an idea of how 2 get around this?

(btw, yes I've tried sizing up the model, but it didnt work...)

o.0 If I understand what you are trying to do, try reducing the field of view of the camera.

yep, tried that aswell. I have tried many things, u get the best view when u make a destructible with a units portrait with size 3.00, but still... if you look well u can still see it has no body (and if u move the camera any closer, the model disappears). It may have something todo with the model, but I dont know what so I dont know what 2 edit in the .mdl :P

hmm. ive never used unit portraits as ingame models before. but i dont plan to, because allot of them have built - in backgrounds. why not use the ingame models of the units scalled up?

Reducing the field of view while keeping the distance constant should not give you any problems with the front of the model disappearing.

the problem with using model' portraits is that they have a background, the TeamGlow. for deleting that, you should import the attached file and change the "war3mapimported/etc..." as "ReplaceableTextures\TeamGlow\TeamGlow00.blp" (without the quotes)

It's not the front of the model that disappears, its the whole model! its really strange, if you go close it goes from completly there, to completly not there...

and to stormragejunior: why would a background cause the model to disappear? I dont really care about the background, cuz I view the model from another angle, where it doesnt have a background.

Is this a custom model or an existing one? If it's custom, I probably know what's wrong and I'll tell you. Uploading it would help too.

hmm, no, its just the existing wc3 portrait model of a unit... if u guys dont really understand what I mean, try placing a portrait of a unit as unit on the map and make a close camera, then TEST THE MAP! as it will not disappear in world editor...
