Sorry, but I could really use an answer soon. It may determine how I come about doing other things with my map. Help will be greatly appriciated. |

You can't change upgrades for a unit on the fly, but you can ad/remove abilities that are dependent on an upgrade... |

Code:
Player - Set the max research level of Iron Forged Swords to 0 for Player 2 (Blue) Where Player 2 Is a neutral player, allied and sharing units with player 1, with red coloring, so in all aspects he looks and acts like player 1's unit, but is not. |

Basically, I am looking for a way to give a unit who acquires a sniper rifle an extended firing range. I DO NOT wish to do this with attack type 2 (using orbs) if at all possible. Does that help to clarify? |

Ok one way that might work, if you feel like putting in the time if you have a lot of different units. Is to create a unit exactly like the unit that can pick up the item except that it has a longer attack range. Then use the incredibly useful Chaos ability, and make 2 new chaos abilities. One that changes the unit into the unit with extended range, and one to the unit without extended range. And set research of chaos for all player to 1. From there its pretty self explainitory, a trigger that activates when the item is picked up, checks the units type gives the unit the appropriate ability that will change it to the unit with longer range, and another for when the item is dropped and give it the chaos ability to change it back to the unit with smaller range. |

Oh i get it....Hmm that IS a good idea. I will have to bookmark this thread for later use because my heros are not yet put in.... Hmm that is a really good idea.....Thanks! That means i can save attack type 2 for other things. :D Unfortuately I have to spread some rep around before i can give you more, sorry bout' that. -Miningjrk |

this is really i good way that i didn't know either and will work great if you only have one unit. but if you have many units for one player of the same type using the same choas than all will suddenly have more range when one of them picks up the sniper rifle... |

What makes you think that Chaos changes all the units of that unit type? It only changes the unit thats given the ability. |

ah yes right ... i forgot this is not an upgrade that only concerns if the unit has "upgrades used" for the upgrade... nevermind what i said erare humanum est ^_^ |

I'm pretty sure that my way would work too though. Either way is fine, but mine does work to just to let you know. |

Yeah gandalf I knew your way would work. However it would cause too much general chaos in my map to do it that way, for certian reasons :D |
