i think u should reduce her chin a bit. chicks arent hot when they have big chins. picture someone girl w/ jay lenos chin on them.... it aint pretty.

i really want to see the finished product.... currently, the shading is minimal... gj tho..

It's been another all-nighter.

Nice linework, and the start you have on the colors looks good.

Her hands could use a little work, even if this is just a sketch. On the one hand her index finger looks about fifty years older than the rest, not to mention only half a thumb. On the nearest hand, her index finger is misproportionately large.

The face looks unique. Faces come in a great variety of shapes and structures, so it's hard to definitively say what needs improving. She would look more feminine with a smaller chin, or simply one that doesn't jut out so far. Maybe her mouth area is too small? Also, maybe if you moved that highlight on her cheek up, it would make her cheekbone higher and give her that certain look.

If you want to make the coloring very interesting, don't use the same skin tones throughout the body. For example, the area around the mouth and chin might be a little blueish, the nose and cheeks more reddish, and the forehead slightly yellow. Make her chest, belly, shoulders and possibly upper arms a paler color, and her forearms more dark. Her hands could be darker yet, with a redder color. Also, skin reflects into itself a brilliant orange sort of color in the right lighting conditions, so use where necessary.

There's some reasoning to this; the skin is usually thinner and less exposed to the sun in those aforementioned areas, hence its having a tendency to be pale, whilst the forearms would be tanned and the extremities of the body sometimes just happen to be red. Besides that, though, it sure makes it much more visually appealing. Of course, everything has to be subtle or its effect will be lost and will probably bite you on the ass if it's too pronounced.

But I like what I see, and it is most certainly a solid foundation. Keep at it, and I'm interested to see what you come up with.

hm... you're right. I'm still really new to this whole digital painting thing, so i'm not sure how to go about it. i'm really just going by feel. traditionally i'd just go at it with paints and watercolors but now with that undo button there, i feel i should use it. I don't like it. Also the tablet is giving me problems with control. i don't have the confident strokes i'd have with a regular brush. it will take some getting used to. and a better tablet....

I can see what you're saying about the hands. i didn't ink some of the wrinkles on the knuckes so its hard to see what i intended. i meant for the fingers to be slightly bent, so they actually look kinda chubby because i'm missing those defining wrinkles. i wanted to define it with a different shade but i haven't got that far down yet.

Well i'm really tired and i need to finish an english essay. i'll edit this tomorrow and pm you with some questions about digital painting ogre. yawn... night. Thanks.

Oh and i'm taking pictures of the art i've done so far in AP art, so i'll post them up here as soon as i get them.

Wow, I really like your pictures. With the first one, I agree that the lips should be bigger and maybe like a glare on them or something. With the other one, I really liked it. You did a good job on the background making the light to dark effect.

You need work on blending... then when u get that... ur pics will be kickass even if you spent lil time on it.

Use a brush at 30% opacity and 20% flow and the color picker tool!!!

Ogre should explain it since thats where I got it from.
