using mdx in 3dsmax4

how do iget warcraft models to fit into 3dsmax? i got the art tools but my 3dsmax (4) cant open the mdx files :( some help pls? noob way would be nice if i need hundreds of tools

im not sure if the wc3 art tools work with 3ds 4. i think only with 6 or higher but im not sure tho. anyway you can import them if you download kmk's mdx importer/exporter. ill add a dl link. go to utilities tab and select maxscript.
select runscript. now search for the script you just downloaded. there are 2 scripts. open the one that ends with .mse now a dropdown box will appear, select it. select static* and disable bone rotation. select import mdx and your done.

but do you know how to get mdx? dl wc3 viewer, its in the download section.
open the model you want. select current file in the upper bar, and extract mdx.
save where you like. thats all, hope it helps.

when i select run script and select the file nothing happens :/ what did i do wrong? does your thing work with 3dsmax4??

and art tools work with 4 and 5.1 only and not with 3dsmax6 :( louzy support

i dont know, or it was working with 4 and not with 6 or it was working with 6 and not with 4.

but what i said later then that is true and it will work. i said that a dropdown box will appear. it is under the runscript button.

I have problems with modelling because i have problems with exporting and etc
But to use art tool you MUST upgrade with the free patch to 4.2 from www.discreet.com
Art tools does not work with just 4
Damn....stupid...complicated....modelling...why canlt we have infinite poly and simple .3ds compatablity

it does NOT give a damn popup box. i just click run script , select the script and absolutly nothing happens. and if i use the thing under run script wich is maxscript listener i cant do shit. so waht ru talking about?

btw you can rotate by using arc rotate in the lower right corner.
