Heres what I think... It can all be done with time, knowledge and a little imagination.

3rd person cameras are great is used right. They add a hole to view to the game.
Imagine this in 3rd person view...
A swordsman facing a forest...
A very light morning fog...
Sun shin coming though the trees...

The ability to make the player want to keep playing and come back. Don't make the game boring by making the player to the same thing again and again.
- Random forests and monsters.
- Make the game take time to master.

Main Quest - To kill the evil master (not part of the side quests).
- To slay the evil masters minions.

Side Quests - Open for many fields like finding a special item of power or crafting a item.

Systems:
- A lot of skills and spells based on a point system.
Copy Diablo 2's spell system and don't limit classes to different skills/spell. Make it so everything is open but your class works better with certain skills/skills. Like for example, for a warrior it's easier to learn combat skills and harder to learn magic but it can still be done.

- Instead of killing for levels make other ways to earn just as much points. Escorting, spell/weapon training, etc.

Thats all for now. Hope with helps you and doesn't drive you crazy

make it where any number of people can play, thats all i care about. say for example, if i just wanted to play a game of it with my wife (which is what i do most of the time) just me and my wife can play on a LAN without the games being impossibly hard. if i want to play it online with people i dont know (battle.net) i can do that, and it wont be too easy.

Easter eggs galore. HAve hidden stuff everywhere that sticks out and makes players think "Whoah - what is that?". I also agree wit the part about making people want to play again and again. For example, invincible spawn points that can only be destroyed by special means that almost nobody would guess, thereby presenting a good challenge and giving players something to try to accomplish next time.

oh, and usually i am against map protection, but in a case like this i suppose it would be better to do so nobody can see how to do all the secret stuff :)

Well i always look for a nice captivating storyline, detailed cahracter pasts and perhaps a little sideline lovestory. Oh and a religious plot twist is always good :)

I hate games where you do nothing but run around and kill shit.

I hate games where you have to play fetch for everyone and have it called a side quest. (Oh, my arms hurt. Could you go through the forest of despair and fetch me a potion of arm healing?)

I really enjoy a game where you can customize shit. Especially the hero, but that's not neccessarily neccessary for WC3.

And I like games with an actual, valid, plausable, and non-shitty storyline. (The divine force, generally an alien or a demon coming to the planet to destroy it has been done to death. Even in WC3 it was used.)

didn't like the battle system like Final Fantasy did, but still its unique and i will give it a 8.7 out of 10

Oh yeh well if you want my view on battle systems i dont mind final fantasy turn-based battles but i dont like ful hack-n-slash any better semi-turn-based is good like in many MMORPGS liek when your character keeps auto attacking and you imput things like movement, skills, magic, item use, ect...a bit like WCIII i suppsoe...but likewise if the battle system is made full hack-n-slah or full turn base you'll get alot of praise from me for orignality...ish

Heres an odd concept that is highly probably for multiplayer i believe which i would love to see in an rpg.
Hero=commander
units in hidden area for hero hero(-add footman, -add archer), when hero goes into a battle the units appear with him(in another area for the battles).
Hero vs. hero action like this
units are also heros but unlike heros, they get set abilities except for their upgrades(werewolf transforming into weretiger, or werebear)
Heroes having multiple level actions.

dont make levels that double a heroes strength. eventually they get so godly that the game is boring. Maybe have some skills aquired through use of items, some learned when u gain a level. Make levels harder to gain and dont make them so beneficial. atleast thats what i'd like. I'd like it to be challenging.

Ok, Carvesean i alredy saw that it is called Traveling Mode, well i am doing a Open RPG for 11 players, but it isn't like those other Opens , i finished the terrain, hero selection system, models&skins and all kind of wierd stuff, but the only thing is left are triggers, a lot of the.

You have 3 main quests, that must be done, and you can if want not to have any optional quest, but you can have them by attacking a quest unit.
When you attack the unit, a dialog shows up, you'l get to chose , to talk with him, ask something about him,...

It's also very nice , when your hero reaches a certain level, it evolves,
Like a troll headhunter into a troll berserker model

You should make it so, it's hard to level, and also how that it's hard to help powerlevel other people in games. Like, even a level 12+ can get killed if he is surrounded. It adds realism.

If there's a save/load system, you shouldn't add tomes that add to your stats.

If there's a 3rd person camera, make sure you can go to regular camera because lots of people complain about 3rd person camera.

Why not add tomes, don't tell me the system doesn't support attributes?I use WEU and i think it supports attributs, but the code is longer
And also i made an attribut system D2 style
