Question

Hey, I'm working on a kind of open rpg and was wondering if 6 players on a map is enough? I can increase it but that means I would have to use a larger map and I'm trying to use the least amount of space to make the map not lag.

Also a second question which I have been wondering about for a while. Under the menu file theres Calculate Shadows and Save Map. What does it do?

Thank you.

oookkk. well.. save saves the map... or whatever you set it to.. and calculate shadows.. calculates the shadows. (I think its diamiter)(Useful for judging unit size: Actions calculate shadows,if then else: generated interger is equal to less than ### then (do whatever)) etc etc.

well... id say 8 on a 6 size map if its an open RPS, starting in difrent places. this would encourage more combat and less woosy defence building and nothing hapening while all becmoe invincible in lame forts. if its a Platform RPG then make it bigger. with 6 players, some can leave and if you get down to 4, its just no fun. 8 I'd say is a good number.

Oh and some kool tricks for RPG's.

1) give viliagers the critter wander ability. this makes them walk about like they are doing something without all those foolish laggy triggers.

2) learn about triggers to make it good. get good triggers, preferably creative and trigered abilities to make good maps.

3 terrain. vital for a good RPG is good terrain.

Sorry, i felt like saying that.. dont like bad Rpgs

Ok, I'll increase it for 8 players but I'm not going to make the map big. I'm working on a different method for game play which I hope will make the game have less lag my cutting the train size down.

It's an open RPG in the scene that instead of only killing for exp you can do training, quests, escorting, etc.

1. I didn't know about the critter wander ability but I'll try to use it.
2. Triggers. Don't worry about that, I'm a pro. :)

3. Terrain hmm, I think I'm ok at it. I'm working on a village right now and when it's done I'll post the map to see what people think.
