Hello, does anybody know how to edit alpha channels with The Gimp. It's that new paint shop thing you can get in the dl section. I have found the masks and stuff, but some reason I cannot mask a certain area. Alittle help would be appreciated.

What exactly are you trying to do with the alpha channels? Are you trying to alpha stuff out of units? Or are you trying to get rid of a team coloured area? I use the team colour alpha junk all the time, but as far as I know (and have tried), you can't alpha stuff out with the GIMP. My suggestion would be to do a *very* simple model edit using some stuff on www.oinkerwinkle.com . He has an excellent simple vertex editing program that, when used in conjunction with Yobgul's file converter program, is very effective. There's a tut on the site.

Or, you could just download the trial version of adobe photoshop, and then use the alpha channels tutorial to do what ever you want.

on the layers, chanels and paths dialog, select the layer in wich you want to alpha-edit. then unclick the fix alpha checkbox, now you can use the eraser tool to alpha out anything, also make sure that the layer HAS ALPHA CHANNEL, if it does not, you'll have to add one, this can be done by right clicking the layer in the layers, chanels and paths dialog, and selecting add alpha channel in the menu that pops, if the option is not selectable, then the layer already as alpha.

When you say select the layer I want to alpha edit, do you mean with the lasso thingy that you select with, or is it something different. Also, where is the "fix alpha check box" you mentioned. I don't know much about Gimp yet, so you'll hafta be alittle more detailed.
