Concerning Hex Editing

I know that there is a header size when you open a map with a hex editor which is supposably 0x20 00 00 00, correct? Does anyone know where I could find this? I cant seem to find it myself, or anything similar.

Are you editing for RoC? Since the import editor that was released with TFT, I can't think of a compelling reason to edit the hex of a file, except if you're trying to add the Blizzard signature to a map which is A) not cool and B) not possible.

From what I'v heard, its a valid way to protect maps by changing the header size. Also, I'm using TFT.

I don't know any of the technical aspects regarding this, but I'd be suspicious of it as a protecting method.

Existing protection methods involve cutting up the map file to eliminate and obfuscate parts of the file that are used only by the WE. Messing with the map header seems very likely to make the file unreadable by both WE and Warcraft 3.

I read about it on the FAQ on wc3sear.ch, but thanks anyway.
