Guest | I thought of a interesting idea for a mmorpg type map for battle.net and I wanted to know what you guys think. The game expends by letting others design there own areas in the world. Basicly you save your character and go to the next map. The starting map would be like 0x0 and you expend from there Things that will be the same for each map. Items Abilitys/Skills/Spells Creeps etc... You can either download a template pack and fill it in (kind of like the areas between the main areas of a game) or you can design your own map for special areas Template pack would inclued. Template maps - Forest (Summer) - Forest (Winter) - etc. Buildings - Blacksmith - Training hall - Magic shop - etc. Divided Areas 1 Town (32x32) 2 Large quest areas (32x32) 8 Small quest areas (4x4) Quest format For a text file (*.txt) - Name - Objective - Description - Type (kill, escort, find, etc.) When you done you submit the map and after its checked its released. So what do you guys think of this idea? |

Never work. You overestimate the intelligence of people on b.net. Releasing a map with a save code open source and encouraging people to edit it...yes...not abuseable.... |

I hate dota...there is no longer games on bnet, just dotas...I go down to the Wired Warfare(PC gamers paradise) and every faggot there plays dota...their all like HEY LETS PLAY SOME DOTA, which i hear as HEY IMA NOOB AND I CANT LADDER WORTH A SHIT...I RARLY see a ToB anymore either....In all im trying to say, wont work and DotA sucks. |

Guest | Fine. I won't do it but is there any kind of map which people would want to play again and again? Even after they have finished it. |

The idea is a concievable good one... but everyone is correct. People would just destroy it. However, if you feel like organizing something like this, why not think about expanding on your idea into something better. A map template of heros, spells, buildings, etc., that won't be released to Battle.Net, but to the WC3C members. What a better place to find people to expand on maps. Create the base map of some city and then have it branch off into many other possable maps, and then let people go from there. They should make their maps seeming blend from the old map where they would "connect", and leave openings for other people to continue with new maps. Just an idea, and if done it could be loads of fun for WC3C members with too much spare time. |

Guest | Hey can you direct me to some good maps with towns/citys? I'm not very good at making them and I need ideas. |

Individual maps... not really. Hero RPG has a good village if I remember. There are some city-making tutorials. Hmm. I would say just try making them yourself, post screen shots in the terrain forum for advice, no better way to learn then to do it yourself. :) |
