i edited a grunt skin. just to test if i could alpha out stuff. well i selected pieces on his axe , painted em black on rgb AND alpha tab. and i made his horn (on the helmet) black on rgb/alpha tabs and his boots a bit. but when i put in viewer or editor the just look black and not invisible(none of them) . why is this?

You could just use the Photoshop, can't you? You just have to erase the stuff and it will be alphaed outish.

Well, you only have to paint black in the alpha channel.. also, did you save your skin as a .tga before you converted it to a .blp?

i use photoshop 7 with the alpha layer mod thingy over it. and i saved it as a 32 bit .tga file and converted to blp.

Hmm. then I don´t know what´s wrong, sorry.. but if you´re using ps 7, I think it´s possible to just erase where you want to alpha. at least that worked for me.

I've had this happen before on my predator skin. Sometimes the alpha doesnt save right.
What you need to do is use the viewer, canvert the .blp of the grun back into a jpg. Open the fresh grunt pic you converted in photoshop. Now Open the grunt you were working on before. Now Use the Clone stamp tool to copy your picture onto the fresh grunt picture you converted earlier. DO NOT Drag any Layers over to it. Save the grunt. (dont save as)
Now convert the grunt back into a blp. and it should be good
