Im starting on an Rpg called "Alvean Open Rpg" so far ive just started on the terrain, the map is at the moment not too big, since i want the map out in an Open Beta version as soon as i can.
The Beta version will contain 10 diffrent heroes. All heroes/races will be neutral to eachother and if you wish to fight another you challange him on a duel and the challanged player will recive a question if he wish to duel. The Beta versions terrain will consist mostly of forests, fields, towns and mountains.
The camera will be a fully controlled 3rd person camera which makes it possible to change view without writing something like -cam1 or -cam2.
There will be a sort of mining system which enables you to mine diffrent materials such as iron, silver and gold, these materials can be used to create diffrent armors and weapons for you to use or sell. Another thing is that i will make a saving code that enables saving of the hero, all items including stash, drakes (gold), lives (lumber (you will not loose a life if you die in a duel with another player)) and maybe even a house.
If i enable the buying of houses, then i will make them placeable in certain locations and when you enter the house you will get teleported to a special house interior that will have 1 or 2 stashes in which you will be able to store items that you wish to save, any other items will be safe even if you put them on the floor in the house.
Only the player owning the house will be able to enter it, it will be a sort of sanctuary away from enemies. Houses will only be buildable in certain locations around the world, if you want to build a house you must buy that location before you build your house.
If two players save their houses and they had built them on the same locations there will be a 50% chance of getting that location, if you dont get it, then your house will be located at another location instead (on the same island).
Ill figure this system out later.

Here's the first screenshot i got for you, its just a mountain scenery (the cobble paths below is the streets of a village im doing down there). There's no doodads in this pic, since i cant get any good screenshot with just grass doodads scattered across the fields.

Actually i have, tho i didn't think of it when i wrote down all the stuff for the map.

Now i have finished basics of the pine forest outside the village Alein that lies in the central Delion (the first island im making). Ill post a screenshot when i have finished the ground doodad stuff there. I have also finished most of the mountain on the picture above. Alein lies at the foothills of this mountain.

Thanks, ill get back to making the terrain again now, my damn computer shut itself off when i had placed the grass and flowers... so i have to redo them, then i will continue with the farmlands in the south and a fishing village on the east side of the mountains. Oh, and i forgot to turn the lightning on when i took the screenshot so there's no shadows on it.

Sorry for another double post, but here's some more screenshots, this time they are taken in-game. It shows some of the hundreds of camera zoom and angle combinations that this map features. You control the camera with the Arrow keys on the keyboard.

Sorry again, now for a tripple post, but i had to send a picture of the "Dai'kah Assassin" that is the first of the 10 heroes. Anyway here's the picture of the skin.

Another double post, sorry, anyway it took a while, but finally i figured out how to make a fog that slowly changes during day and night, makes the fog seem more realistic than for example the fog in legacies which changes instantly at night.
I worked 4 hours on this trigger... then i realised that i had set a thing wrong in gameplay constants that made it impossible to check times... Sometimes i hate myself...

lol that fog trigger sounds annoying lol also with your terrain when u had the demon hunter on the motain trail looking down on the village below the path u have made which the demon hunter is standing on is almost perfect it looks so cool and now i will ahve to start practising how to make thouse paths coz im not very good at them atm well any way good job

Ok now i wonder, what kind of Hero/Class selection system you players would you like?
Here's what ive thought of:

- Dialog seletion system with pages, since all heroes wont fit on one.
- Selection of hero, you select the hero by clicking on it.

All selection styles will have the character information in the quest logs. Both styles will use dialogs that ask you if you are shure of your selection since you wont be able to repick.

When i have completed more on the gameplay i will post a gameplay movie in .avi format for those who wish to know what the map is like.

dialog is better coz then u dont need to make extra tirggers to make the units for u to select and then another trigger to get rid of them so dialog i think

I like if u use both. Use selection of hero, to choose a hero. Then use dialog to customize it, maybe? ^_^

lol, the video... is that the one that you've record with ...that tools? lol compress the video will ya! nice job with the terrain... uh... yeah, you're one of great terrainers
