i wanted to make a hero spell out of a regular unit spell (with different stats for different levels obviously) and make 3 other similar spells (1 of which is lvl6).

im not too familiar with limits/restrictions on this whole spell editting thing...so can i do this and have it work on battle.net? and if so do i do it just like i would any other spell? do i have to add in custom IDs and stuff?...any help would be ..helpful.

You cant do a completly new spell, it has to be based of an old but that dosent mean u have to edit one but u still have to base it on another.

Yes, you can make Creep Spells and Abilities, into hero Skills. It's done same way as editing hero skills, just set to Hero, and set all the same as hero skills would be set.

Hmm, that's what I did, but in the WE my custom spells weren't in the Hero section, they were under Unit spells. I haven't tried it out yet, but I don't think they will work. Anyone know why?

In AbilityData.slk in the first three fields after the ability name, there are 3 numbers. For non-hero, unit abilities, these should read "1 0 0", where...

1 <-- allows use in WE
0 <-- non-hero
0 <-- non-item
