hero inventory and morph

Is there a way to disable the inventory on a hero, without making him drop all his items? I'm using the bear morph, morphing him into a different hero, but I dont want him to be able to use his inventory at all. But when I turned off the inventory ability in his morphed form, he dropped everything when he morphed.

If possible could I get a response in idiot-proof, noob terms?

Save all of his items to a item variable-array and move them to some corner of the map. When he morphs back, give him all of his items back.
