We NEED someone who can allow 8 Hero Spells, rather than just 5.

We at the UMS campaign have run into a slight snag. We want to make it so when you click the + symbol to choose your new skill, there are 8 skills to choose from. We only want the hero to have 4 skills in the end, by removing some choices when others are chosen, but we can't figure out how to get more than 5 in the skill selection window. The problem is that our best (Being Scio, so not just some noob) can't figure out how to increase the limit higher than 5. Scio says it's hardcoded and unchangeable, but if ANYONE can do this ANY WAY (.dll editing, Hex editing, hacking, reverse engineering, neighbor of GFraiser, or absolutly ANY way) respond to this thread and you will be AUTOMATICALLY added to our great Campaign Team that already features such great minds as myself, Assassin X, KMK, Scio, Madacc, Benji, Pencilgod, and several others!

Well there is no need to join the team, basically we just really need to be able to pull this off. All insane was saying is if you can figure this out, your more then welcome to join our team, you certainly don't have to. Thanks in advance for trying.

Have you guys tried disabling/enabling abilities with triggers? You could give the hero more than 5 abilities, but only enable 5. Haven't tried it myself, and enable/disable is kinda buggy, so I dunno if it'll work, but good luck =)

No, dataangel, what I mean is that it is impossible to give a unit more than 5 hero Abilities, even if we removed all other buttons and made room WE and the game itself still cap at 5 Hero abilities. Disabling and enabling aren't an issue since it is at the current time impossible to put that many skills on a unit at all, not just getting them to show.

Thanks for trying, though, but we need a major Hacker for this probably. ANYONE HERE THE GUY WHO INVENTED ITH ON DIABLO II? I got a job for you :ggani: .

how bout havin an area sectioned off with 8 cop's for each hero. once they gain a level give them some no-attack unit that can go on one of the cop's. I know thats a horrible solution but I only know how to edit .txts, .slks, and .tgas. and Im sure its not a .tga ^_^

Hi Insaniteus,

it is no problem to give a hero more then 5 hero abilities. You can give him as much as you want if you edit the txt files a bit.
But I havent figured out, how to show more then 5 of them.
If I give for example the archmage 12 hero abilities, in the game only the first 5 are shown/available.
Hadnt any luck to get to the other yet.

No No ITs hardcoded limit Cookie checked game.dll its a HARDCODED limit you can give me 9 million 999 thousand he will only get the first 5 you disable the first 5 he won't get the next 5 either so its a FIXATED LIMIT SORRY. However some guy was able to edit the limit to I believe 8 he had a custom game.dll going around and he got hero level up to 255. His problem was that you could get these extra 245 levels but you didn't earn any hero skill points for it. Also his .dll only worked for version 1.02 he said 1.03 changed alot of stuff and he could find the registers in the dll.

Weaddaar same here! If there is a .Dll for 8 skills out there then we need it! We don't care about not getting more than 10 skill points, we just want 8 skills.

I had found ways to do everything but this, im still lookin into the hex of game.ddl for where it is. Its a bitch to find one number in the entire file. grrr ahh well i also would liek to see that file so i know where to look.

Is is plausible (in your campaign) to "fake" it? I'll explain...
Basically, do the math, and create as many identical Heros as are needed to have all the 4 Skill possibilities given than they can only have 5 (note: this is just for enabling the skills, not researching). Then, this is largely dependent on your campaign (I don't know anything about it), you could use a trigger for whenever you press the hero skills button, to temporarily replace the hero with a "merchant" unit with the same model. Basically give him 8 different things to purchase, changing those icons and descriptions to that identical to a hero skill layout including a cancel button. You could then use triggers to convert a purchase to research by changing to one of the correctly skilled Heros and researching the corresponding skill, then disabling all "skills" you now want unresearchable (remove them from the merchant).

It should all work with little problem (assuming this is a single player campaign). I have further ideas to make the system look more like the original, but I'll stop here because I fear this is not what you're looking for.
