Really simple: what do I have to do to make a custom hero almost exactly a Demon Hunter to use Chain Lightning? What I did was: set the custom hero to HAVE Chain Lightning as hero skill; added 1 skill point with triggers; made him learn orc far seer - chain lightning; issued order targeting a unit with orc far seer - chain lightning. It didn't work. How do I make it? Thanks =D |

Guest | Hmm i might be able to answer.I´ve done this before The Chain lightning cannot be cast through triggers if the target of abiity being cast was a friendly unit or anything else the chain lightning normaly wouldn´t target if thats not the case, then i normaly don´t see anything else wrong with this but since world editor is not in this computer i can´t check it out but i might later if anyone else haven´t helped you. |

Making him an enemy unit makes things harder, huh? Have to make 'em stand still everytime they cast a spell, otherwise they'll just jump on each other hehe |

I had the exact same problem with my map, i wanted someone with magic to 'grant' my person the ability, unfortunately i never resolved the issue, but i am postive that i pin pointed the problem which was the Hero - Grant ability function, it didnt seem to, well, function properly thus not able to grant them the ability. Later testing revealed that tha ability already exsisting on a unit that wasnt a Far Seer and using Far Seer - Chain Lightning Ability function worked just fine with my human mage character. I ended up resolve this by have two units, very messy with triggers, one with the ability and hidden off screen, the originial one - with out the ability, then i made special effects to distract the viewers and used the Unit - Replace Unit function, thats how i resolved it in a nutshell, if you want to carry over existing items from one unit to another, is another mess in itself - Lol, The units only disappear for a split second, so it shouldnt be too noticable, however i used special effects on the ground the unit stood on to try an help 'cover it up' or 'distract the viewers' Hope this can help in some small way at all, btw - this is my first post the forum --Elzarath |

Just do this: Unit Change owner to (any hostile force) Order the chain lightning cast Unit Change owner back I think that will work. |
