when you edit a txt file does it have to be the same length in letters?

i meant like if u modify the txt inside the text file does the length of the word in letters have to be the same long to work?

im not asking if it has to be the same size in bytes, im asking if the characters/letters/the things im typing has to be the same amount like cat and dog they all have 3 letters, does it have to have the same amount of letters
