Trigger Bug challenge

I just thought of an interesting idea for a challenge. Instead of the usual create a spell and the such, how about a Trigger bug challenge.

Basically, the objective is to intentionally create a trigger with a bug in it, and submit it in this thread. Then have people try to solve it.

The rules:
-The map must be no larger than 64x64 tiles
-Based on the poll, as of now, converting your trigger script into custom script will be allowed, but not recommended as some people may not understand it.
-You can create any type of trigger you like =)
-Judges can make an entry if they want, but it wont be counted =p

Submitting your entry:
When you submit the map, zip it up with winzip or winrar, along with a notepad file with the following information.
-What the trigger is supposed to do
-The results of the bug/ What it is that is buggy about your trigger.
-Your forum name (just for the record)

Then upload the file.
The alternative, would be for you to paste your actual trigger code as a post.
(As suggested by aaero, i quote "The actual code of all related triggers, so that true gurus don't have to bother loading the map.")

Judging (awaiting confirmation): -
-The best bug creator
The judges (however many there may be) will make an attempt to solve the bug on your trigger. For every judge that cant solve your problem, you will get one point. In the event of a draw, the winner will be declared according to the complexity their trigger bug.

The prizes will be:
Reputation + Whatever amount of gold i can spare.
(Forgive me, theres not much i have to offer )

I will probably need 1-3 more people to help judge, any volunteers?
(preferably trigger guru's :o )
Current judges are: -
-Me
-Elven Ronin

When the judges agree on the rules, the challenge will be open. (i will put a notice for this)

PS, inform other people of this if you think this is a good idea.

Strangely, this sounds like it might be fun in a demented sort of way. I'd like to see a set format for submitting bugged triggers though. It's no fun to wade through an already confusing map.

I think the important things to submit would be:
What the trigger should actually do.

The results of the bug - what is happening that is buggy (this is questionable - sometimes you want people to find the bug without telling them).

The actual code of all related triggers, so that true gurus don't have to bother loading the map.

This does sound like fun. If you want, i could help out as a co-judge.

I agree with aaero on the submission criteria, this should help keep things under control.

Sure elven, that would be great

I agree with what aaero suggested as well. I will update the opening post in this thread so that it looks more, organized. When the rules are confirmed amongst the judges. The challenge will launch and we will decide on an appropriate deadline for submissions.

My name is mentioned too many times in this thread! Ack!

Anyway, it sounds like you want to make this pretty organized? It's not going to be people just submitting a bugged map at any time, it's more deadline based?

That's fine of course, just trying to clear things up. If that is the case, when do you hope to have challenge #1 posted?

good idea, but i have a Q. can u try to confuse the judges with triggers that leave up to another trigger, and so-on, or can u only have 1 trigger thats bugged??eg of trigger leading up 2 other trggers:
when reds units=X amount
give red 1 point

when red has 5 pts, give him (item that doesnt exist) in slot 2

and then make it so heroes can only have 1 slot to carry things

then the Q would be y the heroes dont recieve an item when they get 5 pts. can we do this??just wondering, cause this would make it sorta fun ^_^

I think this challenge is dumb. Namely because depending on the complexity of the system finding a single bug can be mindnumbing. Plus due to odditys in war3 there are many Non-bugs that can cause fatal errors. Certain variables being named too closely together may cuase collision errors, to the untrained eye this is an impossible to tell bug. Other such fun bugs could be accessing gamecache from a string, but the string actually is a nullstring. (insta-crash), another crasher is trying to remove a dropped item. There also numerous glitch-ables, removing the dropped item the adding a new one. The new one wil disapear as well. There are so many bugs that I know how to do that few would understand.

You may have to change the location of maps in trigger.
Second time you test it if you test in single player its reall wierd :(

Great Plan. One problem what is the minium skill level at mapmaking involved to be aloud in this contest?
