campaign idea need input

I was thowing around the idea of doing a campaign where you start of with your pivotal hero character that goes off into the world building up a small army doing quests and the like similar to the Thrall campaign, but more in the same vein of the original warcraft 3 pre alpha concept. I can probably do the majority of this myself but I would like to see if anyone has any interest in playing something like this. It would have to be single player and it wouldn't really require any new models or skins. I could do the terrain and do some decent triggering, but for the moment there isn't anything concrete to contribute I would like to hear if anyone would want to take this on board. Specifically the story telling and dialogue, I can quite easily come up with some neat concepts but would need someone to help collaborate on making it fit neatly in the warcraft universe.

Initially I would like to have the main character an Orc hero but he won't have to be subject to recruiting only horde allies. There won't be a great deal of heros the, infact like the original concept for warcraft 3 the player would only have the one hero but with an exception to maybe one or two quests in which another hero breifly joins the fray to be a means to an end. So the question which I return to yet again is does this sound like a project that is worth getting off the ground?

Well if you think you can finish such project, I can help you with a story and concepts (I have worked in much project as story writter or as conceptor). It is good to have custom models or at least skins in a campaign so I advise you to use WC3sear to download some.

Tell me is you want me in.

If you're willing to stretch to custom models and a little extra-warcraft inspiration, my mod would be happy to run side projects to have campaigns and cinematics.

where as I was more likely to stick to what was already available to keep size down and have voice acting instead, I could use one or two models but these would more likely be artifacts or buildings rather than characters. Except of course slight modifications. I do however appreciate help on both story and cinematic. I guess I should come up with some sort of a brief expect to see some general story arcs up soon

Well first can you say me if you want your story to be in warcraft universe or not? What are the races? How many heroes? And who are the good/bad guys (those you fight and those who would ally you)?

Ok set up is, this is to prior to ROC story arc and work behind the scenes starting with an orc that has been captured by humans and put into forced labour has to give up his identity and skills and start affresh. I would like for him to cross paths with key players for instance Grom Hellscream in one of the encampents, see the rising of the cult of the damned and other factions. To stumble across the destruction of the sunwell and any other manner of random events going on. There will be ally heros along the way but only for certain quests as I have mentioned before. I would like 1-2 of them be re occuring likely to be a human and a high/blood elf, I will have to get into details as to how they come about forming kinship and the difficulties they may have in trusting one another.

Well here is some sketch for the story of this orc:
In Azeroth, Barum Thunderhonnor (the orc hero) was one of the last to surender himself to the humans. He had to work for them during the building of New Stormwind and he befriendly himself with a human. He was then working as a help to this farmer near the swamps of sorrow. But things were changing lately. Some bandits were attacking the farms. While he was hunting in the forest for the lunch, all the farmer's family was slaughtered by the bandits, who then left the orc heavily wonded. But a band of orc renegade saved him and healed him. Now he want revenge. He is aware that some orc warthief, Grom Hellscream, is still resisting the humans. Here begin the long travel of our hero through Azeroth and Lordaeron...

First he has to leave the swamp and to travel to the north, wich is quiet hard as the swamp are still full of undeads and of monsters from the orc war. Afterward, he would have to find a way to reach either some goblin Lab or some Troll shipyard to reach Lordaeron. But after taking either of those ways, the ship/zeppelin would be damaged by some griffon riders and he would just arrive on the shores of Khaz Modan. There is the beginning of what is called the day of the dragon. To survive, he would have to regroup the few survivors of the dragonmaw clan and lead them north. But the travel would be hard. From the plains of Stromgard to the peaks of Aerie, the way to Arathi highland is harsh. But when arriving there, he would find that Grom Hellscream is now allying himself with a feeble shaman: Thrall. Not willing to ally someone who is willing to take out revenge from his orcish brethren hearts, he leads his forces to Alterac mountains, allying with the Blackrock Clan. But while attacking some human village, one of the kid suddenly remenbered him the farmer's boy. So he decided to save him from the slaughter. But the kid is not willing to live anymore: he is talking about some very bad priests who took control of his parents and turned them into undeads.

With the fight against, first, the cult of the damned and afterwards, against the scourge, our hero and some other of our good guys would see the fall of Silvermoon, Dalaran and much of the destruction the demons would call on this world. After those events, the few remaining orcs under his banner want to go to Kalimdor where has gone there warlord who was correct about the demon's return. Arriving in the Barrens, our warriors would have to fight and to sacrifice their lives to save the world tree from the destruction...

What do you think?

I think that is great, I was hopinh not to have to leave the main continent cos I wasn't sure of how to fit the whole world tree thing in, but looks like you pretty much solved that part. I enjoyed hearing about the encouters thats one of the main things I wanted to have involved in the story. If you would like to expand on any of those key areas or break them up into chapters, I can start with the details

Well here are some basic map list (can be, and would be changed a lot I guess):
1) Cinematic: the defeat of the Horde. Rebuilding of Stormwind, encounter with the farmer.
2) The hunt: go and hunt down the big wild boar you spotted yesterday, beware the the undeads (orc skeletons and human's one) who are roaming in the swamp. Cinematic with the farm burning.
3) The quest: awakening in the rogue orc village, decision to go search for Grom. Travel in the fire mountains. Beware lava spawn and dark dwarves (could use 1-2 custom skins).
4) Dangerous travelling: Near the border of Khaz Modan, find a way to cross the channel. Beware of bandits, dwarves and kobolds. Two end possible: Goblin or troll.
5) Day of the dragon: You survive the griffon's attack and must go on. You find orc of the dragonmaw clan, follow them to their fortress and save as much you can from the dragon's breath.
6) Stromguard: Rescue as much ors you can in the different encampements and prisons. Find your way out of the plains. First occasion to build up a base. Humans are the main danger.
7) Aerie Peaks: arrivals in the mountains, installation of another base when you are attacked by griffons. Escape the griffons before being slaughtered.
8) Arathi Highlands: Find Grom and his tribe. Much human's patrols.
9) The new warthief: Fight the humans to help Thrall who is ambushed. First encounter with the warthief and when you heard of Thrall's project, you finnaly decide to leave the "New Horde" for Alterac mountains, where the blackrock clan sheltered.
10) Old memories: Attack some human village. Encounter with the kid, Tim.
11) Shadow's return: Fight against the Cult of Damned. Encounter with Kel'Thuzad who kill Tim.
12) The slaughter: The humans are fighting the undeads in Stratholme. But you think that the best solution is to surround them so you launch you fellow grunts in the battle.
13) Arthas: The human prince, you like pretty much as he killed Kel'Thuzad has allied the undeads and is now leading them in battle. You were hiding near Brill when you heard of the scourge invasion. Defend the paths so no undeads invade the valley. Encounter with a strange human girl who want to fight at your side against the undeads
14) The hunt for undead: Arthas was able to teleport himself in Brill and to regroup an army in the plains. While the girl is defending the paths in the mountains, pursue the death knight.
15) Silvermoon's fall: With the help of an elven captain, Aurore Lightrider, regroup the elven survivors and to fall back to Lordaeron.
16) Fire from the sky: The burning legion was summoned... Demons are attacking from everywhere. Defend the village with the help of the human girl to make sure the people fall back to the relative safety of the forest.
17) Survival against honor: Are you going to withdraw like the elves to Kalimdor and leave for some time your honor or die here? If you choose first proposition, beware the undeads and the demons who don't like this idea.
18) War is everywhere: in the burned coast of Kalimdor, either orcs or humans to learn why undeads are here too.
19) To dig the undead: Make your way to Hijal Mountain.
20) Honor is all: To regain your honor, Defend to the last the World Tree for at least 30 minutes. Even is you do succed for 30 minutes the fight would continue till you are dead and burried.

Even though I don't got the time to read it all (don't blame me, I'm at school :P) you might want to give a few things throughout PM. Slith said something about "who are the good/bad guys" though that may spoil something about the project itself. Such things are best taken care of by PM. But like I said, I haven't read throughout the thread, so I'm not completely sure, I just thought it would be useful if I warned you by it.

Good luck, by all means.

I've decided I suck at doing movies so I will stick to doing the maps, developing characters and doing concept art
