I'll start it off with one of my WIPs. But remember that my entry won't count. I'm doing this for fun, not to compete against you. I'd be biased come judging time if I were competing. ![]() Well, it's obviously VERY WIP. I'm using bur's idea of using rock chunks for stones and basically building it like the ancients did, brick by brick and from the ground up. The path to the fortress winds around and to the right side. I plan to extend the wall to the right of the gate on the highest level of the plateau there, and have a tower or two overlooking the path. It's a real bitch trying to make a second floor. I want to take some interior shots, so I have to have a ceiling. I've been rotating a rock chunk upside down and flattening it to a Z-value of about 10, and using that as a ceiling. Then I have another right side up rock chunk also flattened somewhat, Z-value 50 or so, and using that for the floor of the second level. |

Heh, I'll post too. Perhaps not very interesting so far but it might prove useful for those wondering what, or, how to do. Be warned that this hardly is a quick method, it is even more ennerving than what Beam's doing. (teacher voice) You see, Beam adds big rock chunks. I've been adding ridiculously small bricks. It takes time, it's frustrating, but hey, either it will look very cool in the end, or it'll be a disaster. Hoping for the first one. As a point of reference of size; the villagers in the picture are scaled down to 0,50. So it is, in fact, very small... so far. That picture isn't really a shot of what I'm going to do, but it's a shot of me thinking of how to do what I'm planning to do. 'nuff said. Picture: ![]() |

ok ive begun wit ma fort ting..so its a dark fortress in the middle of an ocean this ss however is merely a rock outcrop from the sea..WIP of coarse.. lowered the sea level to its default loest then raised up 3 large hill shapes(connected) then used the plataue and draggen diferent sized steps around the rock makig it look quite like its been mined..then i scribbled the noise tool over it and smoothed it all into shape then i used a northrend rock tile and covered the formation..then selected a certain number of that tile and placed that in places to highlight the rock..then put some dead grass in places then..used circle size 2 and raised select parts and shped them aswell..then i applyed rocks and staligmites and some lowered darkened shrubs around..then put some citadel barriers to make t look a bit more gloomy..some rain muddy green fog and sky the viola.. |

Lol yes yes, I know the whole pathing, C&P, Ctrl+PageUp, but the way Beam does it is just magic. I've been working most of the morning on something similar in design, using the rock chunks. It pales in comparison to Beams work, but its my first Terrain post and im pretty proud of it. Also got more than this done, this is still WIP. |

krazac hate to dampen your spirits but...that looks almost identical to beams job..whenever i asses terrain i always look for something thats a bit original..and while using the rock chunks is fine..looking at it it looks like youve tryed to just redo beams... |

Yeah, this I understand. I was just messing around with that idea and I liked how it came out. Im definitly not trying to take credit for what Beam is doing or anything. Im just trying to learn and such. |

VERY WIP. Did this in about 10 minutes. Before you accuse me of stealing bur/Beam's idea, I did not know bur had done this already, and then I had an alternate plan, which still used the chunks, which Beam promptly did/showed the next day (no, he didn't steal it). And you thought CotD was laggy? Beam, can I use WEU so I can override the destructible limit? |

I'm in too. Not sure if using towers and gates is allowed.. they're not walls after all. It's been a while since I done some active terraining, so.. |

wow, greyarchon, I really like yours. The terrain (tiles) just flow into the actual building. really great! good luck on finishing it ^_^ |
