This is the BETA to version 5 of World of Middle Earth changes include: -Game Style Options: -AOS\melee -LOTR\The Hobbit Age -Heroes revive\not -Flank Attack Damage\not (an attempt to copy medieval total war) -Units no longer spawn. Instead, players gain periodic income from farms, a max of 6 farms is allowed -Smaug can be rescued by Brown...will create some kind of timer before can do this in final version -purple is the Fellowship\Dwarves, Bilbo + Gandalf -ply7 + 10 are reserved for AOS...even though it is uneven on sides now, i tried to edit things to keep it fair (let me know if it absolutely isn't) NOTE: you only have about 7 secs to vote for a gamestyle at start, so don't waste time Version 6 is out, go here to get it: http://www.wc3sear.ch/?p=Maps&ID=3275 |

Guest | this is the best tolkien map ever! * but there are a few bugs in it *when i win a duel with saruman as a good guy ,he transports in the middle of the northern orc encampment and gets killed(if you talk about bad prizes) *evil wins always in aos *only player 8 can rescue the balrog *not all heroes learn their spells with the AI *beorn can not transform in bear or dog and here are more suggestions: *make the AI of the eastern men so that they use oliphaunts in battle *make smaug much weaker than now because i can beat an army with him alone(he is even stronger than Saurons ultimate form). *let Gandalf & co's AI use all units(dwarfs) in hobbit age *create a building for esgaroth were they can train militia and longbow archers *remove 1 nazgul and replace him with Mouth of Sauron hopely you can do something with this |

Hey thanks for the input! Unlike most people, I release a lot of versions for this map...I do a BETA for each major version change...anyway, I fixed most of that stuff in version 6, with the exception of Smaug and the Mouth of Sauron idea (which is a good one). I guess I forsaw people trying to kill Smaug before he was rescued so I wanted to make sure he was hard to kill and since bad side is outnumbered he has to be powerful, but I may have made him too strong. Also you may be right about the nazgul, but I thought the fellowship and the fact that bad is outnumbered would be a big factor in AoS???...maybe not... I don't get much of a chance to host this on Battlenet since our DSL at home is slow, so I appreciate the input, I might update the version in a month or so and try to balance things out better...but check out version 6 b/c i fixed a lot of errors from the previous |

Guest | here are some more suggestions for the map *create a cool cinematic for when the ring is destroyed. *if a player tries to destroy the ring and mordor is directed by a computer,let mordor attack-move units to Mt. Doom *make all units in eriador neutral because i have to destroy them to win if i am evil *improve smeagol in LoTR age(he ran away when he was attacked and never returned to frodo) *improve dueling so that the winning hero gets all items self because AI's wont pick them up *create a building for gondor that trains nurses *if a good hero is turned into a ringwriath make the ring droppable so mordor don't has to kill its new hero for the ring *let good bearers of the one ring owned by computers randomly walk to Mt. Doom to destroy the ring *make the ring droppable by all evil heroes except sauron *improve the techtree and the AI of the mountain orcs in hobbit age they only attacked with their heroes and they can only train uruk hai wolves *improve the hero AI for spells once more(gandalf,shelob,frodo,boromir,faramir,sam and dwalin aren't learing their spells) thats all for now today. go on with the good work and fear no darkness. |

Those are some more good suggestions. Like I said, i fixed a lot in version 6 (which i released only a few days ago)...like the mountain orcs thing...some of this other stuff i didn't do yet but i'll be sure to come back here when i start working on the next version. Thanks again ![]() |

Morinethar was one of two blue wizards sent to middle earth with Gandalf, Saruman, and Radagast. There mission was to go to the human people's of the east and turn them from their dark ways. No one know's what happened to them because Tolkien says basically that they were never heard from again. It is speculated that they may have turned to evil....so in the game when Saruman chooses good Morinethar appears in the east to help keep things balanced. I was pretty sure Mordor did have shared control of harad and easterlings after the timer...so i don't know how to answer that flank attack damage is just a trigger I use to take away extra health from units that are attacked from behind. This makes it better if you can surround an attacking force etc even if they are stronger than you. It comes from the basic principle that it's easier to kill someone by stabbing them in the back than when their weapons and shields are facing you, and then forces that are surrounded get cramped and have no room for combat. It also makes horsemen and other fast units that can 'flank' the enemy have a greater strategic purpose. However, there is 1 PROBLEM with this: I forgot to exclude mechanical units...so buildings end up getting killed much faster with this style enabled... |

Add the battle of the last alliance here is a list with changes for each player dwarves:different heroes wearing the lost dwarven rings moria,Erebor and the iron hills are occupied by them Rivendel:elrond starts before the black gate with a small encampment Gandalf & co: this one will get 4 heroes,gandalf,Morinethar,saruman and radagast orthanc is their town hall lorien:remove bard and replace Beorn with Cirdan Rohan:replace the king of rohan with Eorl Gondor:replace the heroes with Elendil and Isildur,the heroes start before the black gate with a small encampment Mountain orcs:the balrog belongs to them right away and starts with a small camp around moria so Harad and Easterlings:stays the same as hobbit/lotr age Mordor:sauron starts on Mt. Doom and is paused for 5 minutes (he is forging the Ring) when he timer is finished he has the ring and transforms into his ultimate form. Just start with a dialogue asking for Lotr,Hobbit or last alliance age i hope you like this idea |

That's a cool idea. It's actually not that complicated either...just a matter of making a few new heroes moving some buildings around and tweaking the victory conditions. I've actually toyed with the idea of choosing to start at a certain battle (like Minas Tirith\Helm's Deep...and the last alliance would be cool as well). The only problem with your idea is some of the history...which I'd have to look up again to get straight...but I do know that Sauron had the Ring for a while before that final big battle, although when he first used its powers over the other rings was at the same time that the balrog appeared in moria....i'll have to check on things but that would be cool and very basic |

yah i believe you and I remember why. It's b/c in the older version Saruman was in a separate force at the start so I had to make him full allies with the bad guys when he chose bad. Problem is that removes full unit control. I'll fix that for the next one |
