Work in progress

Hello everyone.
Ive been working on this for a little while. I've posted this on Wc3sear.ch for a few days to get some critisism, but I get the feeling that "most" of the people who will actually be able to help me on my mistakes may be elsewhere...

TEMPORARY PARTS:
I dont like the cape, I just drew it out real quick to give a more complete look to the character, because thats gonna be the color scheme for it.

The chainmail was done with a simple trick using the staind glass filter. I might keep it, I might try some other shit out, be it freehand or not, who knows.

FLAWED AREA's:
The design on the boot is a bit crooked, i know. Its becasue I was trying to get it to wrap correctly, and to some degree I have, though the model surface of the boot is a bit wierd for a plate mail boot.

Also, the 2 gems arent matching in thier edges, that will be fixed.

Im still thinking of an idea for the flesh/hair/staff.
I will be completely redoing the face.

I really like this so far. my advice is freehand everything, it will get better.

the chainmail does look kinda cool on the unwrap, but not on the model.

i really like the boots!

Like I said, the cape is a temp i did up just to kinda "complete the picture". It will be redone with ALOT more detail to it.

As for the chainmail, I'm still bouncing around idea's. Not quite sure how to go about doing it freehand though. Anyone have any suggestions?

Keep the chainmail.. im diggin it man. the boots are great as well.

if u have a wacom tablet, skinning freehand shouldnt be too much of a hastle... as long as u have some artistic ability... but i dont think it'd be that easy to draw chainmail free hand...
