Hi there! I am developing a campaign about a viking warrior Ragnar Hammerheart, it's kinda tribute map to late Quorthon and I'd like to use one song of Bathory in the proloque cinematic, but does that count as piracy? If it does I just have to dump the idea and use original WC musics. Just want to make sure... |

i think as long as you give credit then it's fine so you could make a quest like credits and then do a subcatagorey like music then cite it that's what i did for one of my maps even though i didn't "publish" it yet |

Thank you. Of course I'll give credit for them for such a great song. That's also heavily under consctruction, but maybe someday... |

Actually it's piracy. Giving credit or not. People just hardly go after small map users. They aren't worth the effort to get in court. But it is piracy officially. |

really? that's intresting i thought for sure if you gave credit it'd be legal (much like a works cited and plaguerism) o_O oh well thanks for the info |

Hmm.. Well, maybe it's better to take that song away from there.. Damn, it really brough athmosphere. Well, in any other case, I'd let the song be there, but not for Bathory. |

2+3 are good points... however 1 is kinda a dumb point saying that oh they wont catch you... that's kinda drawing their attention but other than that you're right i dought they'd spend their lives finding every person who used their music and be like OMG YOU USED OUR MUSIC PAY US 99999999 dollars... no they wouldn't do that so i personally think that if you give them credit it's fine.. please take in mind that i am not saying you should use their music i'm infering that these are some good points + you may just wanna stay clean and go with what Maglok said it's up to you buddy :god_help_us: |

That is indeed very true, they do not really care enough, but like I said, technically... they could. |

Duke once again I have to point out certain policies, and that is no flaming. He asks wheter it is legal or not, I point it out, please refrain from flaming. |

Use the music as you like but be aware that it might get you sued if the modification gets popular enough. TToR used Dungeon Siege music for years but it was removed for the latest version so that I could advertise it more. It's your choice, but you have to face the risks of doing it yourself. |
