The Northbound (snowy NE)

after doing a skin called 'the pine protector', wich as a pine version of the ancient protector, complete with snowy bits and all, the idea came up to do more of this 'theme'. i'm getting a fieuw skinners together who can all help with a vieuw skins and get this stuff together.

but, before that can begin, we'll have to discuss exactly what we are doing with the northbound? they are elves in snow, and the skins will most likely restrict to nightelves and nightelf related things.

but are we making this a whole new kind of elf? or are we making this a kind of settlement of nightelves that is stationed in northrend.

living in northrend would have certain effects on the nightelves. as the diffrence between winter and summer are higher, the winter will have much longer nights, thus making these elves much more effective and strong during the winter as upposed to during the day. what do they do? do they dig themselves in during the summer to get protection from the daylight?

also, theyre usual forest creature pets or forms, are ofcourse altered in this new envoiroment. druids of the claw have a polar bear form, druids of the talon a now crow form, huntresses ride white cats...

but what of things as the mountain giant and the feary dragon? hyppogryphs and chimeras are quite easely adapted to a new snowy background, but MG's and feari draons i dont know... especially feari dragons would have a hard time.

this we will all need to discuss.

Heros:
DemonHunter
Keeper of the Grove
Priestress of the Moon
Warden
Mal'Frion

Buildings:
Tree of Life
Ancient of War
Ancient of Lore
Ancient of Wind
Chimera Roost
Ancient Defender
Ancient of Wonders
Moon Well
Altar of Elders

Units:
Archer
Huntress
Druid of the Claw
Druid of the Talon
Glaive Thrower
Hypogryph Rider
Sentry

Creatures:
Whisp
Dryad
Mountain Giant
Hyppogryph
Feary Dragon
Chimaera

Sommoned:
Treant
Owl Scout
Avetar of Vengeance
Sprit of Vengeance

right, thats a list of all stuff in the NE.
now we need to dicide wich ones to skin, and how to skin them? and who will skin them? are we going to Edit any of the models?

all questions that need awnsering, and they can be awnsered, right here in this thread. also open to all suggestions from 'outsiders' ;)

glad to see this is going to happen.

do you have any idea wich ones you dont want to do,or who dont need it?
hmm, i think the Fairy Dragon is going to be hard. i say we make it a bit blueish and white, with some sort of ice crystals as the wings or something in that direction.

anyway, id love to help you skin, and i can do models edits to.

Cool theme :D
You could make the mg like a snowman or some kind of ice giant
And Faeire dragons could be small white dragon wyrmlings. It might be a good idea to make a pack of skins like polar elves or something.
Anyways, rep given if im able to rep you again ^^'

no see, thats exacly what i dont want. then it just becomes boring icy stuff again. thats not real. animals that live in the artic are not blue and white with ice crystals on them. they may be white becouse the color gives themk protection, but its not like they are made out of ice. i want to get rid of that image, i HATE that image.

here i'll give you an example of a verry good 'snowy' mage:
i looked to this for inspiration on my snow.

Jacinthes Ice Mage.

i myself are doing Druid of the Claw for sure,

and i am definetly interested in
Ancient of War,
Huntress,
and... and...

yeah i dunno i cant pick really... i like most of them. i wont do MG though xD
also, the Archer and Hyppogryph interest me.

oh, you want it to go in that direction, ok ok.
hmm, how would a Fairy Dragon look like in the artic without the image?
i think it would have some fur, or it is white for camouflage. (or both maybe?)
i really wouldnt know what to change besides the color...you know what? im going to do some research about artic creatures, fantasy and normal creatures.

well, the ancients would probably look best if skinned like you protector.. and the other buildings, altough pretty boring, could just have snow on them.. cause it would still be the same nightelves as before, right?

I've actually already started some skins like this that I called the Season elves. The Season elves race had parts of the race aligned with the seasons, spring, summer, fall, and winter. I've already started a Warden as a Season Elf but I could always give it to this project!

Oh and the Elves will prosper during the dark season of the North and go in glaciers and ice caves during the day. Mountain Giant can be a abombinable snow man er something and the Fairy Dragon made kinda icy

good question. i have no idea. ^ ^'' maybe add a 'steam' emitter to them somewhere, so they are hot water pools.

and the_end, show us that snow warden then, if it fits with the race its good we'll take it.
heres a WIP of my DotC. it's only the portrait, but this should give an idea of what the skin tone will look like. basically just a pale nightelf as you can see. i tried to make the 'skin' itself look a bit more weathered and 'leathery' then the original DotC. i am still doubting if i should go for this beard, or i should make a black beard with snow on it...

and oh yeah i also made the eyes smaller and the eyebrows bigger.

Here's the Season Elf Warden changed a bit with the skin and the eyes so it kinda matches Erwt's DOC. Some parts have not been touched yet so dont flip out!
