Guest | Lemme start out that I am a n00b when it comes to editing. I was wondering if I add a unit say Mannorth to Undead will it only work for one map? Like adding in Arthas does it only work for the map your either creating or one you are editing say a skirmish map? I'm just wondering if there is a way to add units/custom units into all of the skirmish maps/custom skirmish maps. Ok...then I take it nobody here knows. |

If you want to edit your Warcraft 3 to have customized units, you can do so. It requires altering the appropriate .slk files in your war3patch.mpq, and means you won't be able to play with anyone else, since you'll have incompatible "versions" of the game. |

Guest | So I assume this is rather out of my skill level to do? I'm saying that because I'm a total noob to modding. Well, not to new, but you get the picture. While I'm asking...what program here at this site should I download to mess with adding in part. I'm guessing its an mpq program. |

WinMPQ. You can ask questions like that in the Editing Tools forum. At any rate, I really highly recommend against altering your actual Warcraft 3 game. If you want to pretend your new units are part of the original race, convert a few maps over. It's sort of a pain in the butt to have a non-standard "version" of the game. |
